Who or what is the Holy Spirit/ Ghost
what does the Holy Spirit do?
We saw last week that the Holy Spirit is God
But Peter said, “Ananias, for what reason has Satan filled your heart, that you lied to the Holy Spirit and kept back for yourself some of the proceeds of the piece of land? When it remained to you, did it not remain yours? And when it was sold, was it at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to people, but to God!”
The Holy Spirit has a mind and emotions, and a will
can be grieved
and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
omni present - every where
Where can I go from your Spirit,
or where can I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, there you are,
and if I make my bed in Sheol, look! There you are.
omniscient - Knows all
For to us God has revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man that is in him? Thus also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
The Holy Spirit intercedes for us
And likewise also, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as one ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unexpressed groanings. And the one who searches our hearts knows what the mindset of the Spirit is, because he intercedes on behalf of the saints according to the will of God.
our advocate
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, in order that he may be with you forever—
another - like the same - God, like Jesus
Jesus is going away, there needs to be someone like Him to be His replacement
some one to our helper , intercessor
one that transforms, and empowers Gods people
a counselor of Gods people
Will be with us forever
A life giving Spirit

The hand of Yahweh was upon me, and he brought me by the Spirit of Yahweh, and he let me rest in the midst of the valley, and it was full of bones.
And he led me all around over them, and look, very many on the surface of the valley, and look, very dry.
And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I said, “Lord Yahweh, you know.”
And he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and you must say to them, to the dry bones, ‘Hear the word of Yahweh!
Thus says the Lord Yahweh to these bones: “Look! I am bringing into you breath, and you will live!
And I will lay on you sinews, and I will let flesh come upon you, and I will cover you over with skin, and I will put breath into you, and you will live, and you will know that I am Yahweh.” ’ ”
And I prophesied just as I had been commanded, and there was a sound at my prophesying, and look! A rattling, and they came together—the bones! Bone to its bone!
And I looked, and indeed, sinews were on them, and flesh went up, and skin covered over them upward, but breath was not in them.
And he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and you must say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh from the four winds, “Come, O spirit and breath, on these dead ones, so that they may live!” ’ ”
And I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they became alive, and they stood on their feet, a very, very large group.
dead mans bones dried, bleached covering the whole ground
brought together and made whole again, but dead
they looked good
but they are just as dead as they were when they were bones
the bones did not have any decision in the matter
the bodies did not have any decision in the matter
the Holy Spirit gave life to the dead bodies
just as it is written, “There is no one righteous, not even one;
there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.
we also are born dead, just as dead as those dried bones
we look like the the bodies that have been put together
And you, although you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience,
among whom also we all formerly lived in the desires of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the mind, and we were children of wrath by nature, as also the rest of them were.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,
and we being dead in trespasses, he made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved),
unable to understand the things of God
the Spirit of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it does not see him or know him. You know him, because he resides with you and will be in you.

their eyes were made alive to see colors
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless someone is born from above, he is not able to see the kingdom of God.”
some one cannot understand unless they are given new life
Paul says the same thing
And if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also make alive your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you.
called being Born again
The wind blows wherever it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
God the Father Says to God the Holy Spirit go into Joe Snuffy and make him alive

once we are alive, we learned last week
God grants repentance, and faith to believe
this is all done through the Holy Spirit
Salvation is entirely of God
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
