God sends Jesus to complete his temple project.

The temple theme binds together the the different phrases and events for the Garden of Eden, in Genesis 1–3, to the Garden City (the New Jerusalem) in Revelation 21.

The temple is a palace for the divine King. The temple is the place where God meets with man.

God built a garden where he could meet with Adam and Eve.

God instructed Adam and Eve to build a holy city and populate it with holy worshipers. They were supposed to serve and guard the Garden

God expels Adam and Eve from the Garden and places the cherubim as guardians fo eth Garden. Sin broke the intimate relationship between God and man.

Through to the exodus there was no earthy sanctuary.

God meet with the Patriarchs at the altar of sacrifice. Jacob dream reveals God dwells in heaven, but occasionally comes down to make himself known. Altars were temporary sanctuaries.

Moses constructed the tabernacle, according to God’s design. God resides among the people. Heaven and earth were joined in the tabernacle.

Solomon built the temple and God filled it with his glory.

In Ezekiel 9, God abandons the city and the temple. Ezekiel 40–48 promises God will live in a transformed city.

Jesus’ body was the temple that God fully dwelt.

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,

Today the church is the temple and members are living stones of the temple. we are to extend God’s presence throughout His creation.

1 Corinthians 3:16–17 NASB95

Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.

1 Peter 2:4–5 NASB95

And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone.

in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,

The New Jerusalem will be the eternal meeting palace of God, where he meeting with man. No temple in the city, because God and the lamb are the temple

Revelation 21:22 NASB95

I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

God sends Jesus to complete his temple project.

Jesus raises up the temple that sin and death destroy.
