God worked with Saul - a Pharisee who hated associated with non-jews, and who was person who was intention on destroying the church town by town, and murdering it’s followers - to spread the gospel to the gentiles. God is not in this to use your gifts or recognize your accomplishments - he’s in it so you can use his gifts, and recognize his accomplishments
