I believe help me with my unbelief! Mark 9:24 (Want to clear up confusion)

First It is a message of news!

AD 476—Fall of the Roman Empire

1517—Martin Luther nails his 95 thesis on Wittenberg

1776—American Declaration of Independence

1939—World War 2 begins

1945—World war 2 ends

1948—Israel Declares its Independence

What do all of these dates signify? News/events that have happened?

What can you do with the news? Believe or disbelieve

Second it doesn’t provide a system but a Savior! Not strategy but a Savior! Another way of saying it is not good advice!

Pharisees—obey the Torah but also the laws we have added over and beyond

Sadducees/Scribes—Work alongside the Government and oversaw legal matters

Zealots—worked passionately against the government to over throw it

Tax collecters—social outcast who were Jewish sellouts

Essenes—a separatist group who isolated themselves and were minimalist

They all had systems, strategies, and advice but didn’t have the Savior! God sent His Son not a document to follow! The message of the gospel/good news is all about our Savior—His Son!

What unites all of these people groups? Not a system or strategy but that we all share the same massive problem and Jesus alone conquers!

Unbelief is rooted in sin!

Paul’s point of a sober reminder (big view of grace)

This is all sin but it starts with foolishness

We aren’t the way we want to be or where we want to be

Is your matter just mis-firing or are you created in God’s image

Why do you get angry, what about free will, etc.

Matter is well behaved and doesn’t say that is wrong

The Christian world view has an understanding for this

The spiral of unbelief!

No God to enemy of God (verses)—Disobedience

Parents see this with kids who know better

Led astray—do what I want and get that pleasure

Passions and pleasure—we become slaves to these little gods—what is your passion is seen in what stirs up passion!

We live as addicts and don’t even know it!n Like junkies who need more!

Malice and envy is the natural outworking not realizing they are slaves and not free!

Hate and murder—against God and others

This is what everyone is trying to fix

This leads to seeing people as the enemy

This leads to adopting a strategy

This leads to forgetting where you came from and how!

Think about 1 or 2 kind people you know—why would you not want to hurt them (Romans verse)

The fullness of God was shown in Christ! Hebrews 1:3

Belief in the gospel! Verse 5

This gets rid of exhaustion and the world problems since the garden

This is not a 99% and 1% but grace, faith, in Christ

Mercy which he gives as he gives but it is rich

Washed, new life, new creation, cleansing by the Spirit

Applying the righteous garments of Christ to us (story of the little boy)

We stand just as righteous before God as Christ 2 Cor 5:21

Do you believe that? Ask God to help you with your unbelief!

Christ didn’t step in as a 30 year old on the cross but supplied a life of righteous living to us!

How? By his grace! Sheer grace! Sola Gratia!

How is our eternal state safe? Justification!

Heirs—A person legally entitled to the property or rank of another on that person’s death! Union!

Hope is found in Christ now and later!

By all measures Christians are cheaters!

This is what you need just like my daughter! God’s love!

The problem is not in this message but our unbelief!
