What is your favorite scripture? Or you favorite couple of scriptures?

Matthew 25:44–45 NRSV
44 Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
Acts 4:13 NRSV
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized them as companions of Jesus.
John 10:10 NRSV
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Themes across these scriptures
There are things that we can do to build the kingdom of God
They are action based
They are joy based
They sort of paint the idea that there is a lot of work to do and it will all be happy and fun todo it
Two weeks ago when we got to preach on the joy of giving like I was right there I was like yeah this is a joy to acknowledge the sacrifice that giving is, is pretty challenging for me

Iliff and assaulting my assumptions about where my scripture reading comes from

Race, privilege
life experience
What my mentors taught me
What church I grew up in and what they taught me
But I also think that our personalities and I would go as far as to say our Enneagram numbers might inform which scripture we choose to read most often

Difficult Scripture for me

Luke 9:23 NRSV
23 Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Summary

Scripture passages that focus of joy that focus on action, and the focus thankfulness are really appealing to me. And if I was unrestrained I would read only those passages. I would also probably spend a lot of time in Phillipians because it is the book of Joy.
The parts of scripture that are easy for me to dismiss or not read are passages like the entire book of Job because it all about lament and grief and I want to be sad.
The point is that by knowing this it frees me to know that probably passages like the book of Job are the ones that are going to stretch me.

What is your favorite scripture? Or you favorite couple of scriptures? And why do you think that is?
