Are you Christian in …? Wk.3
Welcome to FFM where we believe in equipping God’s people in the spirit of love by any means necessary!
Wisdom Vaccination: (This is to keep you from catching the fool.)
Proverbs 16:16 NIV
How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!
INTRO:
As a Christian one thing we should never do is deny the faith. Deny association with Christ.
Can you imagine what that must feel like to him after he gave his life for us.
(e. g. if my son denied me or if a teammate denied belonging to FFM)
Mark 14: 26-31 ESV
And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 27 And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ 28 But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.” 29 Peter said to him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.” 30 And Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” 31 But he said emphatically, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And they all said the same.
(While you’re with me it’s easy to be bold but when I’m gone will you fold.)
Mark 14:66-72 ESV
And as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came, 67 and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus.” 68 But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you mean.”
And he went out into the gateway and the rooster crowed. 69 And the servant girl saw him and began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.” 70 But again he denied it.
And after a little while the bystanders again said to Peter, “Certainly you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.” 71 But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak.”
72 And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.
(It’s amazing how you remember not to deny him after you’ve already denied him.)
Y’all know the routine by now.
What is a Biblical Christian?
Biblical Christianity was a movement that saw many people following the teachings of Jesus from Nazareth.
Biblical Christianity was an entire way of life.
Biblical Christianity was obvious to others around you.
The name Christian was used to describe them because they were always talking about Christ.
Biblical Christians were men/women who listened to Jesus’ teachings of the Scriptures, observed his way of life, patterned their lives after his and had a mission to convert others wherever they would go.
So, today we will ask our 5 questions about Christianity as they relate to the job.
Are you Christian on the job?
1. Do you follow the teachings of Jesus on your job?
2. Is Christianity an entire way of life on your job?
3. Is your Christianity at work obvious to other employees around you?
4. Are you often talking about Christ on your job?
5. Is your mission on the job to convert other employees to follow Christ?
Do you follow the teachings of Jesus at your job?
Colossians 3:23-24 NKJV
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
(Most people on the job don’t work as unto the Lord. If you do it can cause others to want to know why you do what you do.)
Is Christianity an entire way of life at your job?
Proverbs 16:3 NKJV
Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.
(We should be committing everything we do to the Lord. If we do, he will use us strategically for the advancement of the Kingdom.)
Is your Christianity at work obvious to other employees around you?
Titus 2:7-8 NKJV
in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
(No one at your job should be able to say anything about you that doesn’t represent the teachings of Jesus. Christianity is the pattern of all things good.)
Are you often talking about Christ on your job?
Joshua 1:8 ESV
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
(We all by law have breaks and lunches on the job.)
Is your mission on the job to convert others follow Christ?
Acts 20:24 NLT
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
(A believer’s life is all about telling others the good news.)
