Intro:

53 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. 54 And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 55 ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. 56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well

Those of you who have listened to me for any length of time have heard many stories about my mom and dad and how God used them to guide my faith walk. They each did it differently but God used it in every case even when I wasn’t listening my spirit was.
My mom has an indomitable faith, my dad has an inexhaustible drive and together, God used them to make me who I am. I am so very blessed and I thank you for indulging me as I give them a long over due shout out.
As we finish up the chapter today we also wrap up the Pricope on faith A pricoppe, if you recall from last time, is an over arching or unifying idea. We have the faith of Jarus in chaper 5 the demon possessed man in the same chapter the feeding of the 5000 in chapter 6 and Jesus walking on the sea.
The unifying idea here is faith. Faith is divided into two groups the faith of those being healed, ie. Mark 5:27-28

Mark 5:27-28 New King James Version

27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
And in the same section, the faith of Jarus:

Mark 5:21-24 New King James Version

A Girl Restored to Life and a Woman Healed

21 Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea. 22 And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.”
She knew as did Jarus that if they could just get to Jesus all would be well. That’s faith! The other epart of this is Growth of Faith. As we discussed, last time, the disciples were witnesses to everything Jesus did, every miracle he performed; and yet, they struggled.

51 Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. 52 For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened.

So as we come to the end of the chapter, we are struck again with the faith of the masses. Everyone it seems had heard (and they didn’t even have internet) and they brought everyone who was sick to where he was! Why, because they knew, they knew, that Jesus could heal them! They had amazing faith.

56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.
