Read our text today:

Luke 24:32–37 NLT
32 They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?” 33 And within the hour they were on their way back to Jerusalem. There they found the eleven disciples and the others who had gathered with them, 34 who said, “The Lord has really risen! He appeared to Peter.” 35 Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them as they were walking along the road, and how they had recognized him as he was breaking the bread. 36 And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. 37 But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost!

Didn’t our hearts burn

The metaphor “didn’t our hearts burn” is to point to how an emotion with in them was kindled, aroused and or ignited. How special it is for God is an all consuming fire that call us to worship Him and Him alone. That this passion God has is able allow us to bring flames in his presence by the joy of his word to light us like a spark plug.
Spark Plugs are small but the electric spark it creates is sufficient to cause a combustion within the combustion chamber fuel and air that will power combustion engine.
Let the Lord ignite you to do his work!
Light the fire Lord, we are available for your Word to lead us and ignite us for your glory!
Hebrews 12:29 NLT

Luke 24:33–34 NLT

The joy of seeing Jesus fuels them.

They are on their way back to Jerusalem with this new found enthusiasm of realizing Jesus is alive in their breaking of bread with him. They come to the location in Jerusalem where the eleven are gathered.
The eleven specifies Jesus apostles minus Judas, the one who betrayed Jesus, are all together.
The eleven are gathered discussing all that has happen this third day.
They are excited to share what they both have come to understand about Jesus resurrection.

Joy of fellowship with the Saints

There is no other gathering that brings that kind of experience but the gathering of saints to worship the Lord.
Let us seek to fellowship with one another in the presence of the Lord. Let us seek too honor our God by speaking of His teachings as we live them out.
