As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

Needs to begin with allowing the Holy Spirit changing the dispostion of your heart

Avoid Restraining it.

2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Humble- a lack of arrogance, a modest view of one’s self

Philippians 2:3–11 NIV

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Christian Humbles takes it to another level...serving others having the disposition of your not too good to help anyone or thinking they are better than anyone

need to look at the humility of Jesus

gentleness — mildness of heart

Taming the tongue

Opposite is someone easily angered-

about self control/restraint from anger

John 8:1–9 NIV

but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

Patience—endurance and perserverence - remaining calm during a storm (emotional storm)

Job

James 5:10–11 NIV

Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Jesus suffering in the Gospels
