So what makes The Summit, The Summit. What is our DNA made of?

BELIEF

We are a Jesus exalting, Bible Believing, and Spirit filled Church.

Jesus exalting

Jesus should be at the center of what we do and who we are. I cannot put it any better than Ephesians 1:10 that God in the administration of His will has purposed and planned to sum up all things in Christ. In Colossians 1 he says that all things were made through Him and for Him and that all things were reconciled by Him. He is the focus of everything we do. We are grateful debtors to a Great God and Savior.

Bible Believing

We believe the Bible is the Word of God and everything that entails. We are passionate about everyone growing in their Biblical literacy. Jesus said those who hear and act on His words are those who build on THE ROCK. We want to build on the rock not only as we gather together and worship and do home groups and all these other activities. We want to build on the Rock in our marriages, in our family, at our work. In every area of our life.

Spirit Filled

A wise man once said I would believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today even if I never experienced them because the Bible teaches them. That about sums up my feelings on the matter. Look we are not trying to manufactor works of the Spirit we are trying to in faith obey Scripture and see God’s hand at work. Our doctrinal statement says this :
1. We believe in the person, presence and power of God, the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin and lives in every believer to assure, guide, and enable them to live godly lives and display the fruit of Christlikeness. Gen 1:2; Gen 6:3; Psa 51:11; Psa 139:7; Isa 40:13; Isa 44:3-4; Luke 4:18; John 1:33; Acts 1:8; John 16:7-14; Romans 5:3-5; Romans 8:1-39; 1 Cor 2:10-14; 1 Cor 3:16; 2 Cor 1:22; Eph 1:12-14; Gal 5:22-23; 1 John 3:24 2. This same Spirit also empowers the church to be effective witnesses for Christ, anointing them to preach the Gospel and operate in the supernatural spiritual gifts in order to edify the church, establish the Kingdom of God, and fulfill the Great Commission. Mat 3:11; John 1:33; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 34:46-49; Acts 1:5-8; Acts 2:1-4; 1 Cor 1:5-7; 1 Cor 12:4-11; Eph 4:7-13; 1 Pet 4:10;
Now that first category is paramount to us. It is the major emphasis of Scripture. But we also know that it would be fleshly to try and advance God’s Kingdom, to minister to one another, in merely our own strength. And just like early Church was continuing to be filled with the Spirit we want to operate, in faith, built on the Word in that as well.

Relationship Relationship Relationship

Lastly we are church the puts the primary emphasis on relationship not contract nor program. How do you know you are a member of this church? Because people know you and you know them. That is an ongoing journey. I am the pastor of this church not because I went to seminary and campaigned and a board decided they liked my preaching and so on. Nope its because I was discipled and spent 14 some odd years and 8 specifically church planting (building relationship with Bryan McCrea).
If you haven’t been invited to a home group yet that is ground zero for us with this effort of genuinely being invested in eachothers life. So Jonathan will come up now and talk more about that!

Church Planting Church

In summary:
Jesus Exalting, Bible Believing, Spirit Filled and Relationship, Relationship, Relationship , and we are a church planting church.
