Who can you count on

Notes
Transcript
In a way of introduction, I’m going to give you an Illustration,
There was battle on the Solomon Islands during World War 2. A group of 5 Marines were huddled together in a fox hole at night. They were tired and running low on ammunition.
They decided one of them had to go to the rear and get more supplies and ammunition. The youngest marine volunteered to go back to the rear and fetch the supplies they needed. As this young marine made it back to their lines he, noticed that other marines in the rear were eating chow and drinking coffee.
The young marine thought to himself how good that chow smelled, that is was cold and how that coffee could warm him up. He said to himself that there is plenty of time to get back to his fellow marines in the foxhole.
While the young marine sat and gorged himself. The Japanese army did a surprise bonsai attack on the foxhole where he left his 4 marine buddies.
The four marines defended their position valiantly until their ammunition ran out and the marine defenders were killed. The young marine finally, and made it back to his foxhole with the supplies only to find his marine buddies all dead.
The moral of this story is when you count on someone it could mean life or death.
2 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

I. Things In Life You Cannot Count On:

Politicians.
They will promise the moon and give you nothing.
You cannot count on government.
You say, “Don’t you love the American way?”
I’m an american through and through.
I served this country in the United States Army
I have other family and friends that served and even gave their life for this country.
I believe with all her fault, we still live in the greatest country in the world.
But, you cannot depend on its leaders, and that means you cannot depend on the country.
Politicians are only out for themselves and how they can control you.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some that try to help, but not many.
As you can see from our last election.
They are trying to make laws to take our weapons.
They are trying to close our churches.
They are making laws to control the way we live.
You can’t count on politicians and government.
Gold, Silver, and Money.
Gold and silver prices go up and down.
Money depends on the exchange rates, cost of living and inflation.
It’s the same when you buy stocks and bonds
You cannot count on having any.
It can’t buy you peace and health.
It can’t get you into Heaven.
People slave for money and riches.
At the end of life what do you have?
1 Timothy 6:9–10 KJV 1900
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Matthew 6:21 KJV 1900
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
You cannot count on your job.
For years your boss can call you by your first name.
Then the next morning give you a pink slip.
You say, “I have been there for years they can’t continue business without me”.
Are you willing to bet on that?
I have seen people work for 30 years without a single write up, or disciplinary against them get a pink slip when they least expected it.
You cannot count on your current employment.
You cannot count on your friends.
Man will fail you.
You say, “I have known my friend for years he/she will never let me down.
He/She has my back.
Bro/Sister, they still live in the flesh.
Philippians 3:3 KJV 1900
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
The worst hurt you will ever feel.
Is when you start depending to much in man.
And not in God.
You can say, “My friend is a saint of God!”
They are still living in the flesh.
And as long as you are in the flesh, you are subject to fall and fail.
You cannot count on your friends.
You cannot count on yourself.
I don’t trust myself
And I sure don’t trust any of you.
I’m not trying to be mean, or offend you.
But, we live in the flesh, and we are subject to the things of the world.
The Bible tells us not to be conformed to this world.
Romans 12:2 KJV 1900
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
But we do at times.
We live in the flesh and are tempted all the time to fall.
1 Peter 5:8 KJV 1900
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
One of the tools of the devil is to tempt our fleshly desires.
Here’s an example for you. It could happen to a male or female.
A person in their late 30’s, 40’s or even older, has a young pretty or handsome thing in their 18’s or early 20’s say how cute or beautiful you are, you look fine are you 21?
The flirting starts, you start to lust, and that’s because you are in the flesh.
Let me tell you something, You need to pray to God, to get you out of that situation. Lust of the flesh will ruin you, your family.
And another thing, If someone that’s 18 or in their early 20’s tell you, that you look like your 20 and you are in the 30’s or older. Trust me you don’t look that young unless you had plastic surgery or bought stock in Mary K, or Revlon.
I’m just saying, you can’t trust your own flesh.
You say, “I’m saved!”
The Bible says, that our flesh is weak
Matthew 26:41 KJV 1900
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Do you know that your flesh is subject to “Horn Cussing”.
You say, “what is that?”
Do you remember the last time someone pulled out in front of you, and you pushed the horn of your; Honk, Honk, Honk, Honk, Honk, Honk, those six blast of your horn, you wasn’t saying, “Praise the Lord glory to God.”
Your flesh is corrupted and not to be trusted.
It will get you into trouble every time.
You cannot trust your health.
You can exercise until your veins pop out.
You say, I’m getting in shape so, I can live longer.
The Bible say, “Bodily exercise profit little.”
You say, “Why would you say that?”
Hebrews 9:27 KJV 1900
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
You say, “I thought that exercise and healthy eating will extend my life.” “You will feel better while your here, while you are on this earth
I’m sorry to have to tell you, you are going to die.
When, is up to the Lord.
So, you better quit trying to live down here, and start preparing to live up there.

II. There are Things You Can Count On

You can count on the Lord.
The Bible tells us that when we put our trust in Him.
He will never leave you or forsake you.
Hebrews 13:5 KJV 1900
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
When you receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior.
No one can separate you from the Lord.
John 10:28–30 KJV 1900
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and my Father are one.
You can count on the Lord keeping His promises.
John 14:1–3 KJV 1900
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
When the Lord makes a promise.
You can always count on the Lord.
You can count on your Bible.
You know, the authorized King James 1611 version!
You say, “I don’t like the King James 1611 version!”
“I don’t like the thee’s and thou’s.”
“I just can’t understated the King James Bible.”
Have you read it, studied it, pray for enlightenment.
I do hear that a lot.
I don’t care what version of the Holy Bible you read but,
If you are reading any other version, than the King James.
You are missing a good part of the Bible’s contents.
You are taking the Deity of Christ out.
Don’t worry about it to much, because God has the Original in Heaven.
The Bible tell us not to worry about God’s Word.
Matthew 24:35 KJV 1900
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Some are confused about doctrine.
You are only confused because you won’t study!
My King James 1611 Bible tell me we are to study!
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV 1900
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
The answers to life are written in this Book and you can count on it 100%.
You can count on judgment.
Romans 2:2 KJV 1900
2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
Everyone of us that are born again Christians will stand before the Lord Jesus Christ at the Judgment Seat of Christ and will give an account of our works, that we do after we are saved.
2 Corinthians 5:10 KJV 1900
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
You can’t avoid it. you can count on it.
Everyone who is watching this broadcast will die, you just don’t know when.
But, the Bible says, for you to count on it.
Hebrews 9:27 KJV 1900
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Unless Jesus comes to rapture us up before death, then you have an appointment with death.
If you are born again (Saved) you will never die alone.
Luke 16:22 KJV 1900
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
That’s plural meaning more than one.
2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV 1900
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
If you are born again (SAVED) you don’t have to worry about death.
You can count on it.
You need to be concerned about how you are serving the Lord on earth!
If you are not born again (SAVED) let me tell you what you can count on.
Eternal torment in the Lake of Fire.
No rest
Eternal darkness
Eternal suffering
Eternal thirst
Forever and ever.
Seeing what you cannot count on, and the things you can count on.
You have a decision to make.
What is your decision?
What do you choose?
Do you want to spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord
Or do you want to spend an eternity in hell with, Satan.
The choice is yours and yours alone.
It’s time for you to get off the pot and decide.
Heaven or Hell
To serve the Lord or the world.
