Psalm 119:153-160 (KJV)
153 Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law. 154 Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word. 155 Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes. 156 Great are thy tender mercies, O Lord: quicken me according to thy judgments. 157 Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from thy testimonies. 158 I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word. 159 Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O Lord, according to thy lovingkindness. 160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

John 12:24 (AKJV)

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
INTRODUCTION:
There is a “Word” from the Lord this evening. I am on assignment to teach on the subject “Overcoming Adversity!” The Christian walk is not a bed of roses that is void of conflict, opposition, or persecution. In my teaching on “God Positions You For a Blessing,” I attempted to articulate the reality that conflict is part of the Christian walk. Also, we learned that God uses conflict to prepare us for the blessing!
It is important to point out that few individuals will success without encountering opposition. If you are going to be successful, failure and disappointment will be met along the way. All through the Bible, we encounter individuals, while used mightily of God, did not start out as successful.
The scriptures are inundated with stories of our prominent personalities who suffered setbacks and failures. Whether it be Abraham, who inadvertently listened to his wife Sarai about birthing a child through Hagar; or Moses who tried to assist God in delivering the children of Israel out of bondage by killing the Egyptian or Joshua who entered a covenant with the Gibeonites without consulting God! Likewise, we must be conditioned to endure setbacks and periods of frustration before we witness God’s manifested promises! Remember, a setback is just a set-up for God to do something incredible!
