Witnesses of God

God is a relational God- He wants us to know him

He is revealing himself to us through all of history

God chose Israel as his witnesses (8-21)

He was the one that made Israel great

there was no other god that was worshipped at that time (12)

He made a way in the desert to bring them to their nation (16)

Israel has forgotten what God did so he will do it agian (18-19)

God formed Israel for his own purposes

They will shew forth the praises of God

Israel was not a good witness (22-28)

Israel failed to live a life pleasing to God

They did not trust in Him for help and salvation

They did not serve God from their heart but out of obligation

But God will fulfill his purposes in Israel

He will continue to forgive and redeem them (25)

He calls them back to himself (26)

God will restore Israel into their role (1-5)

God election will not be in vain

It is the work of God in the life of Israel that prepares them for the work

He formed them and made them who they are

He will make blessed and happy witnesses in Israel

He will pour water out on them like a desert until they become an oasis

They will take on the name of God and say “I am the Lord’s”
