WHO AM I LOOKING FOR?

Intro. - Isaiah 66:1-2 allows us to look at God in a way that is personally revealing. God Himself is speaking. Heaven, He says, is His throne and earth is His footstool. Everything belongs to Him! There is nothing that can be made for Him or given to His that is not already His. Yet in all these things there is not to be found that which truly satisfies. Only one thing will satisfy . . . and for this God goes on looking. It is a quest of the highest order!
The People To Who God Looks Are Those Who Are Humble 1 Peter 5:5
These are people who do not exalt themselves.
Humility has to do with lift God up, not putting ourselves down.
It is for real when God is truly credited with everything about us that is worthwhile.
Love is its fulfillment, for there is not exaltation greater than being loved.
The People To Who God Looks Are Those Who Are Contrite 2 Cor. 7:10
These people are grieved of heart and mind when they know they have failed God.
The Hebrew word for “contrite” has the meaning of being “broken or smitten.”
To be be “contrite of spirit” means to be “broken hearted before God” because of our sins.
It is a broken heartedness that grows out of our understanding of God.
Knowing how much He loves us, how can we go on being unloving to Him (cf. Romans 2:4)?
The People To Who God Looks Are Those who Tremble At His Word
1 Cor. 15:1-2
These people take His Word seriously.
It must be taken seriously because of Him who Word it is, because of what He has to say.
No relationship can be meaningful that is not concerned to listen.
Concl. - Above all, God looks for a people with whom to share Himself
Heb. 12:1-3
