I. INTRODUCTION:
Saints of God, I was glad when they said unto me, “LET US GO INTO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD”.
I am so glad, so happy to see your smiling faces on today! Oh, how I missed being in the house of the Lord with you all!
I just want to take a moment to thank God for you all. I truly admire how strong you all are in the Lord!
I know you all have mourned the loss of your loved one. But the way you all have dealt with things has been so graceful.
Which is evidence of good teaching! We all have been taught very well through Pastor Holmes on how we should respond when we know where a person’s final resting place is.
Well today, we will be taking a break from the sermon series, “Reaching The World With The Word”.
Today, we will look unto David in Psalm 23. Which is the message title, “Psalm 23”.
II. BODY:
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Assurance—The resurrection of Jesus (Acts 17:31) is the “assurance” (Gr. pistis, generally rendered “faith”) or pledge God has given that his revelation is true and worthy of acceptance.
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
The “full assurance [Gr. plerophoria, ‘full bearing’] of faith” (Heb. 10:22) is a fulness of faith in God which leaves no room for doubt. The “full assurance of understanding” (Col. 2:2) is an entire unwavering conviction of the truth of the declarations of Scripture, a joyful steadfastness on the part of any one of conviction that he has grasped the very truth. The “full assurance of hope” (Heb. 6:11) is a sure and well-grounded expectation of eternal glory (2 Tim. 4:7, 8). This assurance of hope is the assurance of a man’s own particular salvation.
This infallible assurance, which believers may attain unto as to their own personal salvation, is founded on the truth of the promises (Heb. 6:18), on the inward evidence of Christian graces, and on the testimony of the Spirit of adoption (Rom. 8:16). That such a certainty may be attained appears from the testimony of Scripture (Rom. 8:16; 1 John 2:3; 3:14), from the command to seek after it (Heb. 6:11; 2 Pet. 1:10), and from the fact that it has been attained (2 Tim. 1:12; 4:7, 8; 1 John 2:3; 4:16).
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Because HE is our very own Father and WE are His very own children; part of our rights and privileges is that he will take care of us.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Listen, some may think this only applies when we have been obedient, been a good Christian today or even done some good deed.
This also applies when we miss the mark, when were not feeling or doing our best today, when we don’t feel like “maxing out” today, when we’re struggling or sometimes barely getting by ourselves!
1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. 3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying, 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Assurance brings you to place of rest as one is confident and has faith in God.
One is persuaded that the Lord is going to deliver them, meet their need, set them free - no matter what comes against them.
Just like the kind of confidence and assurance that David had when he went up against Goliath.
David had no doubt that the Lord would deliver Goliath into his hands.
Why? Because God had shown himself strong already, when David was just a shepherd boy, when David slew the lion and the bear to protect the sheep.

III. CONCLUSION:
A Psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed.
1 I will bless the Lord at all times:
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord:
The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked unto him, and were lightened:
And their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encampeth
Round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good:
Blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints:
For there is no want to them that fear him.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger:
But they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me:
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 What man is he that desireth life,
And loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil,
And thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good;
Seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous,
And his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil,
To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth,
And delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart;
And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
But the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his bones:
Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked:
And they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants:
And none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
