Introduction:
What kind of worker are you?
talker or a doer
lazy or active
complainer or optimist
self motivated or unmotivated
obedient or disobedient
committed or uncommitted
faithful or unfaithful
Col. 3:23
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,
A Christian worker ought to be the best worker on the job. He ought to obey orders and not argue. He ought to serve Christ wholly, and he ought to work whether anybody is watching or not. If he follows these principles, he will receive his reward from Christ even if his earthly master (his boss) does not recognize him or reward him.
DO - each of us has a responsibility to do - we need to be doers, How often do we think about doing something but we don’t? We like to dream about things but we never really get to work making those dreams come true. We have ideas in our heads but we never get round to making them happen. We talk about it but never actually do it.

James 1:22a
But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
1 John 3:18
Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
the church needs more doers. What are we doing with talents that we have been given. The Parable of the Talents (Matt. 25:14-30) assures us that we are responsible for what God has provided, no more, no less.
WORKERS - The church desperately needs workers. Men and women who will get out and do something for the Lord.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.
notice the text says heartily - with all of your being. Start from that inner self and overflows into action - do it with all your might. Even if we do something we often don’t do it heartily. We don’t give it our best effort, we are not fully committed, our hearts are not into it. We need workers 1 Jn. 3:18
Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
who whole heartily put their entire being into the work.
FOR THE LORD - Don’t forget we are working for the Lord!!! We have the best boss, we have the best resources, and we have the best reward system ever. I don’t want to let him down. He laid his life for me. He has trusted us with his message to take it out into the world. He has tasked used to walk in his footsteps. To be zealous for good works. to bring honor and glory to His name.
It’snot like we work for a tyrant, It’s not like we work for a boss who never gets his hands dirty. We don’t work for a boss who forgets about us or doesn't care about us. We work for the Lord and that means he should get our best efforts, our best work. So what kind of worker will you be?
Discussion: Do it heartily
I. LIKE THE WIDOW WHO GAVE,
MARK 12:42-44
A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent.
Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury;
for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.”
do we give everything we have or do we hold back? Do we give with our heart? She showed true love and commitment. She trusted the Lord and didn’t hold anything back
II. LIKE THE WOMAN WHO ANOINTED JESUS,
MARK 14:1-9
Now the Passover and Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to seize Him by stealth and kill Him;
for they were saying, “Not during the festival, otherwise there might be a riot of the people.”
While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume of pure nard; and she broke the vial and poured it over His head.
But some were indignantly remarking to one another, “Why has this perfume been wasted?
“For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor.” And they were scolding her.
But Jesus said, “Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to Me.
“For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.
“She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.
“Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”
she gave the best. do we give our best or do we give jesus the second hand junk of our lives.
III. LIKE ZECHARIAH, THE SON OF JEHOIADA,
2 CHR. 24:20-22.
Then the Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people and said to them, “Thus God has said, ‘Why do you transgress the commandments of the Lord and do not prosper? Because you have forsaken the Lord, He has also forsaken you.’ ”
So they conspired against him and at the command of the king they stoned him to death in the court of the house of the Lord.
Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which his father Jehoiada had shown him, but he murdered his son. And as he died he said, “May the Lord see and avenge!”
commitment and devotion to do what the Lord commanded even if others didn’t like it
IV. LIKE ONESIPHORUS,
2 TIM. 1:16-18
The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains;
but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me—
the Lord grant to him to find mercy from the Lord on that day—and you know very well what services he rendered at Ephesus.
He was eager and committed to refreshing Paul. Used his talents
Conclusion:
1. One of the rarest traits found is faithfulness. Faithfulness in being a: husband, wife, Bible class teacher, elder, deacon, mother, father, friend. What kind of worker are you? Are you working heartily for the Lord?
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,
