Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be
uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that
you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no

hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose
again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus

those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the
Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who
are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not
precede those who have fallen asleep.

in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will

another with these words.

As believers in Christ,
when facing death
we can grieve with hope
• “Hope”: elpis - expectation of what is certain

Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The
dead were judged according to what they had done as

recorded in the books… Anyone whose name was not
found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of
fire.
What if someone dies as a
“non-Christian”?

not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to
repentance.

determines how you live life
Galatians 2
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live,
but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I
live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave
himself for me.
