SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 30:6
Introduction: Pastor George
* David was distressed and the rest of the people were grieved but David was the only one who "strengthened himself in the Lord his God".
* In the marriage relationship we must strengthen one another if we are to recover our marriage. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
* This scripture gives 4 reasons why two are better than one
* First, two together reap a greater result or profit because one makes up for the weakness of the other with his/her strength (Eccl 4:9).
* Second, when one falls the other will lift him or her up (Eccl 4:10)
* Third, one offers the other special warmth or strength (Eccl 4:11).
* Fourth, the two help each other in battle and are stronger with God. (Eccl 4:12).
Pastor Julia: My Husband
* Eno said she's grateful for the man she got married to. A man who supported her to become a better person.
* Her husband persevered and stuck with her. Instead of condemning her he encouraged her to continue.
* Jesus saw the gem in Peter. He didn't give up on Peter. He washed his feet, He served him. He saw a rock upon which He established His church.
* The "Esthers" that God brought to the "Mordecais", the Ruths that come into the "Naomis" lives; they don't hold any promise, nothing to offer...
* When God throws us the challenge, we may not know what He is planning for you and me so take them as they come.
* If you happen to be in a position as Eno's husband please don't give up on her. Let the love as described in 1 Cor 13:4-7 prevail.
* Ask God for a fresh dose of patience, self-control, perseverance, and love each day to help you fulfill that assignment.
* Your support could be all your spouse needs to become better.
* Your patience could be the lifeline your spouse needs to change.
* Support your erring spouse with prayers and love.
* And remember that change is a process and not an event!
Conclusion: Pastor George
* Husbands have a responsibility to make their wives better. Ephesians 5:25-27
* Wives also have a responsibility to make their husbands better. 1 Peter 3:1-2
