What is the Lord’s Prayer?
What is the Lord’s Prayer?
Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Commentary
We are invited to come and talk with our Father. The fact that He is our father changes everything. We talk to our Dad in a different way than we talk to other people because He already knows us and he loves us.
Pray honestly because He hears and he cares.
What are the things in your life that are important to you?
What’s on your mind?
Pray honestly because He will change you.
God meets us exactly where we are, but he doesn’t leave us there.
Ask God that you would think true thoughts about Him
Ask God that you would learn to obey Him out of love for your Father
CS Lewis thought prayer was about making God happy. He didn’t know how to pray to God as Father.
Be honest with your Father. He knows you, he hears you, and he loves you.
