God's Good Pleasure

2 Thessalonians 1:10-12

10. When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

11. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12. That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

***What do we see in this verse?

***What is “all the good pleasure of his goodness?

***What about “the work of faith”?

***What does “power” mean to us?

Psalm 119:18

“Open thou mine eyes, That I may behold wondrous things out of thy law”

What wondrous things have you seen out of the scriptures this week?

Isaiah 46:9-10

9. Remember the former things of old: For I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

10. Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times the things that are not yet done, Saying, My counsel shall stand, And I will do all my pleasure:

***Do we see a statement here, an exaltation of God? He is God and there is no other God. No matter how hard man tries or imagines; “there is none like me.” What a truth we can take away from this.

Luke 12:32

32. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

***This is a passage bringing out the thought of worry; worrying about life and the small things.

***vs. 32 Brings out the idea of our salvation in Jesus Christ and our personal relationship we have with God through Jesus. Our Father.

Ephesians 1:5,9

5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.

9. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself.

***If time permits read vs. 1-14. This lays out a lot of the how to’s and how come’s to God’s good pleasure.

Philippians 2:13

13. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

vs. 1-4 Fellowship and unity

vs. 5-8 Christ humbled himself and was obedient

vs. 9-11 Jesus lifted up and highly exalted. God glorified.

vs. 12 Our obligation

vs. 13 God’s work and purpose in us.

Revelation 4:11

11. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
