How many of you would describe your life as busy?
How many of you would consider yourself tired this morning?
Thank you for answering. We will come back to this questions in a little bit.
It is my understanding that for this semester you are learning about what it means to be in fellowship with God. This morning I want to focus on not so much on what it means to be in fellowship with God but rather one of the benefits that we can have if we have fellowship with Him. This benefit that I’m referring to is the blessing of rest.
How many of you would like to be able to rest more in your life?
I remember my high school days very vividly. I was taking some honors classes, some for college credit, I was in multiple sports, and I also had a part-time job. Physical rest was hard to come by except for the weekends. I found myself just getting through the week so that I could sleep in on weekend.
How many of you feel like some weeks you’re just trying to get to Friday afternoon when the last bell rings or when practice is finally over just to go home and physically rest?
If that is you, I want to propose an idea to you today, if you’re not feeling that way now, trust me sometime in your life you will. It’s called college, then after college is called working a full-time job plus having family. So I want you to listen up to what is going to be said because this truth is something that you will want to understand.

Christian Standard Bible Chapter 11
28 “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
