A baseline for many of our actions that do not glorify God, begin with not thinking about God. Godliness is the mental activity of seeing and including God in every action so that He can be glorified in our lives. Godliness is thriving in the awareness that God sees and in present in all things.

BI: The baseline for many of our actions that glorify God begin with having our mind set on God in all things.
Intro: Have you ever dealt with a symptom over and over again rather than dealing with the root of the problem. Maybe it was a bad staff member you needed to get rid of. Maybe it was a martial issue. The examples can be lengthy. But the reality is, sometimes, we address symptoms rather than the root cause. Why? Sometimes it is laziness. Sometimes we don’t want to manage the conflict. Sometimes, we just kick the can down the road.
There are some things in our life that don’t glorify God. Godliness, or ungodliness could be this root cause that leads to some of our activities that do not glorify God. How can we address that?

Here’s what we know

Romans 1:18 ungodliness is the associated with unrighteousness and is not acceptable in the life of a person wanting to grow in their faith.
Pursing godliness is like this. We are all somewhere in between where we used to be and where we need to be and that is ok.

What is it

Ungodliness may be considered less than wickedness. Here is why that is important. We may see is as not so big. Not that much of an issue, and the result is we tolerate it.
Essentially, ungodliness can be seen as a lack of intention. A lack of thinking about God. Or, more specifically, failing to live with God as though He is present in all you do.
Colossians 1:9-10 our aim is to be fully pleasing to God. Love Him with heart, soul, and mind.
One other way we can see ungodliness is a lack of dependence on God. Another way to look at it is to say, godliness; our aim, is seeking to be dependent on God for the full scope of our life.

Why is it important

1 Corinthians 10:31 all we do...
2 Corinthians 10:5 take every thought captive...

Why

As we understand God, what He has done for us, our spiritual response is one that desires to be pleasing to Him. We want Him speaking into all of our activities.
We also want God to be glorified in our life.
Our mission statement at Canoe Creek is not a cute saying, or nice platitude for a poster. It is at the heart of who we are and why we do what we do.
It is truly, our desire to share Christ with our world.
We begin with connecting our lives with our savior Jesus, learning what that means and how to do that. Our next step is to begin understanding what it means to live a godly life. Because we know, at the root, when God is present in all we do, Jesus is glorified.
