The Claim of Idolatry (6-8)

Idols are in competition with the one true God
They come in different forms and images showing a plurality of gods
Every idol demands to be worshipped as if it was God
God is the first and the last, there is none in between
He has earned the sole worship from all mankind
There is no God besides him
Idolatry comes from the rejection of a One True God (Rom 3)

The Foolishness of Idolatry (9-17)

Idols are made by weak mortal men who grow weary
It is made to look nice as a decoration (13)
We can see the sillyness of idolatry in Isaiah’s argument
half is fire wood
half is a god

The Danger of Idolatry (18-22)

It brings blindness
Don’t question, don’t consider the sillyness
Those who worship idols become like them as punishment from God
It brings eternal damnation
One mistake and it brings death (free solo illustration)
It is an abomination to God
Remember these things Israel
This is just as much for God’s people as the idolator
God is the one who sees, hears and acts
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Prov 1:7)
