What Exactly is the Body of Christ?
What Exactly is the Body of Christ?
A body of people who summarize themselves as part of the Christian Community. A people who are Christ in the earth.
The Truth Sets Us Free
The Truth Sets Us Free
So, let’s be honest with ourselves and each other. This journey will not be easy. Some of us have never fasted before, some of us have tried to fast and was unsuccessful and some of us simply find it unnecessary.
Here is my truth. By the conclusion of this message today I pray whatever your concerns are, the Lord will answer them, your heart will change, and your mind will be made up to unite with us for a common goal. To reconsecrate ourselves and our church to God.
John 8:31-32, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Heart Check:
Where are you in your relationship with God?
Is it where you would you like it to be?
Do you truly know Christ as your personal Savior, or do you know about Him?
Does He know you?
Left Your First Love
Here is God’s truth, Revelation 2:4, “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”
Do you remember when you first got saved what that felt like? How about all the things you did because you were so excited about it? I remember how I felt. I wanted everyone to know I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. How about you? There is an energy that comes during our first encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ that if not carefully nurtured and fed it will lose its passion and zeal for the things of God.
The confrontation to the church of Ephesus was about their being so busy with tasks, agendas, programs, work, play that there was no room for God. Sometimes we can become so preoccupied with the things of life that we forget about our first love. We lose our zeal, our stamina and passion to pursue the one who loved us first and loved us most.
Revelation 2:4, “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”
Heart Check:
Does your heart still yearn for the presence of the true living God?
Where is your zeal to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others?
Does the word of God feel like fire shut up in your bones or is it just another Sunday morning gathering with the saints and then you go back home?
People of God, children of the King, COVID-19 was not a death sentence. It was a call for the church, the body of Christ to return to its first love. The one who loved them first and loves them most. Quarantine was opportunity for restoration, not isolation.
Will the Real Body of Christ Please Stand?
The call today is for the body of Christ. The real body of Christ to stand. The ones who are poor in spirit, who mourn, are meek, hunger and thirst for righteousness. The ones who are merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers and are persecuted for righteousness sake.
The ones who will stand up and are not ashamed to speak up for justice, righteousness, morality, honesty and truth.
The ones who hear the call from their first love saying, come out of those desolate places where your enemy has driven you. Far away from the muck and miry clay of suicide, depression, alcoholism, domestic abuse, loneliness, low self-esteem, inferiority and heaven only knows what else., come out. Seek Me and you will find Me. I am right hear waiting for you with arms stretched wide.
What is standing between you and your first love? Our Country is in a desolate place because it has forgotten its first love. Return, I bid you, return to your first love. The one who loved you first and loves you most.
Life More Abundant
Some may say I want to do this. I want to join in with you on this fast and take this journey with you. I truly do, but it is so hard. I just do not think I can do it. Some of you have already given up before you have put your very best effort into trying. Before you throw the towel in can I ask you a question?
Do you want a life that is more abundant? Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
The thief has already shown you who he is and what he is capable of doing. What has he already stolen from you?
Are you out enjoying your life with friends and family or are you home alone waited for things to return to normal?
Is the presence of God with you or are you wondering where God is and why is He allowing all these bad things to happen in the world today?
The word “abundant” is defined as plentiful, rich, bountiful, and lavish. Spiritually, do you feel you are living a plentiful, rich, bountiful, and lavish life? I am not talking about materialistically. I am asking if the presence of God is all over you. Do people see and feel Jesus when they talk to you? Do they see His blessings on you and on your children? Are godless people respectful when in your presence? If not, you have been robbed. The thief has stolen your respect, integrity and character. What else are you going to allow him to take before you stop him? How do you stop him?
Seek the Kingdom and Righteousness
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:31).
All of what things? Today, I am asking the real body of Christ to rise out of the ashes. To turn their eyes away from the material matters of this world and return to their first love. I am asking them to turn down their plates and the volume of life so they can hear God and show the world what the real body of Christ looks like. I am asking the real body of Christ to strengthen up and become warriors. I am asking the real body of Christ to seek God with all their heart, soul, and mind.
Change will not come; restoration will not occur, and the establishment of our Government will not yield to God until we become who God says we are. His children, covered by His blood.
When we stand united for Christ, “Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth. And all flesh shall see the salvation of God” (Luke 3:5-6).
Will you join us? Will you stand with us for 2 days, 3 days, 7 or 21 days? Will you make a sacrificial offering of food, meats, that special thing you just cannot do without daily, your favorite dessert, whatever God asks you to lay at the altar, will you do it?
Be Steadfast - On One Accord – United, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles’. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,” (Acts 2:42 – 44).
This fast is a call for the people of God, the body of Christ to be purposeful, committed, and united with one commonality, returning to their first love. To serve, reverence and approach our God with fear and trembling. To exercise our authority in spiritual gifting’s and see miracles, signs and wonders of our God being put into action.
This mission is not for the weak. It is not for the reserved. Nor is it for the luke warm. God wants true followers. Those who are not afraid of change but will ensure the change is for righteousness sake. Those who are willing to step up and say, “Yes Lord, I will! I will wholeheartedly Father!”
Do you want to see people healed, delivered, debt-free? I do!
He is seeking those who (Acts 2:46-47):
Will continue daily with one accord in the temple,
Break bread from house to house,
Eat their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
Praise God, having favor with all the people.
Then He will “add to the church daily those who are being saved”
Do you want to see our church grow? Do you want to see our church do more outreach in various Communities? I do!
Finding the strength to Fast - Psalm 121:1-5
This journey will not be easy. It will take strength to get through it. It does not matter whether you fast 1 day, 5 days or the entire 21 days. Where will you find the strength to get through it?
Look to the Lord. He will be your strength, your strong tower, your refuge, your help in times of trouble. He will be the one to comfort you when you want to eat something you’re fasting and shouldn’t. He will give you the words to cry out when you search for comfort as your body fights against every effort you make to push more and more into God.
I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
This is our anthem and He is our first love.Sometimes the things we are least likely to do become the best thing we could every do (P. Wood).
