7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

37 For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For the things concerning Me have an end.”

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

The “end” will come in different ways

for some, it will be end endpoint/termination

sin, wickedness,and all evil will have their end

all rebellious authorities will have their end

for both right and wrong, it will be the final stage (as a result of successive actions/activities)

Romans 6:21–22 NKJV

21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

death is the result/fruit of ungodly living

everlasting life is the result/fruit ofrighteous living

for the few, it will come as the end goal for which it was created

James 5:11 NKJV

11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

the purpose of Job’s suffering is for him to experience the compassion and mercies of God

“The end of all things” is coming

“all things” - refers to the whole creation

Ephesians 3:9 NKJV

9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;

God made all things

Isaiah 45:5–7 NKJV

5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; 7 I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.’

create - the Heb word means “to cause to exist”

God built all things

Hebrews 3:4 NKJV

4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.

The “end” of God’s creation is NOT destruction!

the “end” in our text does not imply termination

Isaiah 45:18 NKJV

18 For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.

Revelation 4:11 NKJV

11 “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”

the end in our text means goal, the purpose for which God created “all these things”!

The “end” of all things is “God” (Himself)

God created all things for Himself

Colossians 1:16 NKJV

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Romans 11:36 NKJV

36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

God created all things for His own glory!

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has made desolations in the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire. 10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

All things includes the nations! (see above)

All things includes Israel

Isaiah 60:1–2 NKJV

1 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.

21 Also your people shall all be righteous; They shall inherit the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified.

God will be glorified “in all things” that are in Christ!

In the people that He will redeem!

4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

In His final victory!

24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.

the end - means the fina stage in God’s plan

puts an end - means Jesus will ‘terminate’ all rebellious rule, authority and power, and death!

25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.

1 Corinthians 15:28 NKJV

28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

“all in all” - means God will be above His “all things” !

Conclusion

Since the end of all things is at hand - very near - let us BEGIN TO GLORIFY GOD in our lives!
