Eschatology: Terms and Vocabulary

Introduction:

Revelation 10:11 NKJV
11 And he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.”
When John was told to eat the book, he was also given a commission from God.
He was told to prophesy about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.
This was his great privilege, his great calling, and his great responsibility.
John was not told to deliver the message to many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings
but about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.
This is what John does in the remaining chapters of Revelation. During the Tribulation Period, many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings will open these last chapters and read what John had to say about them.
The teaching this morning is entitled:

Measuring The Temple of God

Revelation 11:1 NKJV
1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there.

I. Let’s Get Started

At the close of chapter 10, John was commissioned to prophesy about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.
He starts fulfilling it in chapter 11.
Facts are given about people, a nation, and a tongue in the events about Israel and the Tribulation Temple.
Details are provided about two particular people called the Two Witnesses. More is given about the King who rules over all things: Jesus or God.
Thomas Ice and Timothy Demy -The Bible speaks of four temples in Jerusalem. The first two temples, Solomon’s and Herod’s, have already been built and destroyed. The final two temples, the tribulation temple and the millennial temple, are yet to be built and are spoken of in great detail in biblical prophecy.

II. None Were Found

John was given a reed and told to measure the Tribulation Temple, measure the altar, and count the worshipers.
This is significant because in the last days, the Temple and one of its two original altars will be rebuilt.
The altar that will be rebuilt was called the altar of gold or the altar of incense. It was located inside the Temple.
The altar that will not be rebuilt was called the bronze altar. It will not be rebuilt because, as Revelation 11:2 says, it was located outside in the outer court. The Gentiles will rule the outer court.
God will evaluate (count) the worshipers to see how many people at the Tribulation Temple are truly worshiping Jesus. He will find none.
The Jews will rebuild the temple so they can reestablish their old way of worship—sacrificial worship.
In the Old Testament, God accepted animal sacrifices as a temporary atonement for sin.
The New Testament, however, teaches that those animal sacrifices did not permanently take away the sins* of people.
These sacrifices were inadequate to truly remove the sins of the people, which is why they had to offer the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year
Hebrews 10:1 NKJV
1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.
The reason God had the Jews sacrifice those animals was because it was a shadow of the things to come.
It reminded the people of their sins and pointed them to the time when the Messiah would come to permanently take away their sins through his death on the cross.
Because animal sacrifice only brought temporary forgiveness, another method was needed for making atonement for sin. A permanent method was required.
Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is this permanent solution. His death so thoroughly pleased God that it will never need to be repeated.
Jesus is the only sacrifice* that God will accept. Jesus even spoke about this when he said,
John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Salvation

John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
As we bow our heads:
Repeat after me:
1. Lord I believe that Jesus is the son of God, and that He died On the cross for my sins and His resurrection from the dead gives me eternal life. I asked forgiveness of my sins, and I Except Jesus as my Lord and Savior. In his name I Pray, amen.

Communion

I want to take a few moments to give you the opportunity to ask forgiveness of any sin in your life.
Let us pray over the elements (Cross Exposed) in the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Ghost
Read first Corinthians 11:23- 26 - (Taking the elements together)
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
