Started back in v. 4; Pitcher paraphrase
“Nothing has changed, it’s not going to happen”
Almost as if God had put it off so long He’d forgotten about it
Most of us know a perennial procrastinator or two, or three
This seems to be the charge leveled against God by those who misunderstand Him, or purposelfully mis-stated the truths

Procrastination or Patience

Which is it
God’s understanding of time is different; He exists outside of time, we’re limited by our concept of it
V. 8 makes that clear

with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day

Psalm 90:4 ESV
For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.
There is a purpose

not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance

His patience is to allow all the more men and women to come to salvation

Promise

The second coming
Once this comes, this time of grace will be over
It does appear that there will be the opportunity for salvation during the Tribulation; but that’s difficult to pull all together
Multiple components can be stretched out to incluce the rapture, the Great Tribulation, Millenium, Battle of Armegdon the final judgment…and finally the end…the coming of the new Heaven and Earth

Product

Really our application
What’s it mean to us, today—real world, real time?
