The Blood is To Christian Life as The Fire is To Civilization
“1. Unregenerate man and God are at war.
That there is a war between unregenerate man and God is patently obvious. Our inbuilt desire to commit sin, to hold in contempt the word of God along with the desire to satisfy self with a total and even wanton disregard for others, as well as God, is testimony to this warfare.”
“2. Only a Blood Covenant could effectively satisfy the legal and moral issues.
It is the only form of agreement that is totally binding on both parties and therefore guarantees peace and security to all concerned.
It provides forgiveness for all the offences that have been committed, providing both restoration and reconciliation for both parties. Instead of being enemies, they become friends, and are now totally committed to each other.
All of the legal penalties and moral obligations are completely satisfied for everyone concerned without trivialising the matter or dismissing the offences; justice will be done and be seen to be done.
Excerpt From: Denis Plant. “The Blood Covenant of God.”
Genesis 15:1–6 ESV
After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.” And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir.” And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
Genesis 15:7–11 ESV
And he said to him, “I am the Lord who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.” But he said, “O Lord God, how am I to know that I shall possess it?” He said to him, “Bring me a heifer three years old, a female goat three years old, a ram three years old, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” And he brought him all these, cut them in half, and laid each half over against the other. But he did not cut the birds in half. And when birds of prey came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
Genesis 15:12–16 ESV
As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, dreadful and great darkness fell upon him. Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years. But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions. As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age. And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
Genesis 15:17–21 ESV
When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”
Restitution is made where it is required and a new era begins for both God and man. This occurs on two levels:
a. Jesus died for all mankind as the sacrifice and rose again as the King. He provides the opportunity for all mankind to be reconciled to God.
b. On a personal basis the sacrifice of Jesus is made effective as an individual chooses to appropriate for himself the promises of God...”
1 Peter 1:18–19 ESV
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
Jeremiah 31:31–34 ESV
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
Hebrews 12:22–25 ESV
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.
“The covenant, which we have entered into, is not so much a covenant of laws and rituals or demands and regulations, but this covenant, as all Blood Covenants, is a covenant relationship. Its very purpose is to bring peace and restore relationships.
Hebrews 9:12–14 ESV
he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
We are involved in a Vassal Covenant. God the Father is the Great King and Jesus is the Vassal king or the lesser king. We are entitled to enjoy all that our King enjoys through the relationship we have with Him, for He has made us to be Kings and Priests with Him. We are a part of a Royal Family with Him and as His heirs entitled to all that He possesses in this present time through our Blood Covenant relationship with Him.”
“One of the first exchanges to be made is the exchange of clothing. As the two Covenant Heads come together, the Great King will give at least his outer coat, sometimes an entire outfit, or even a whole wardrobe, to the Vassal King.
The statement that accompanies the exchange of clothing is so important. “All that I possess is yours. You are my family, I am your family, I am one with you, you are one with me”. This is the hidden meaning and it is profound.
Once the clothing is given the Vassal is entitled to receive the same respect as though he is the Great King himself
Revelation 5:9–10 ESV
And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”
Any blessing given to the Vassal is given with the respect due to him as if he were the Great King and he receives due blessing in return. Any offence to him is an offence to the Great King as if given directly to the Great King and attracts due penalty.
Genesis 12:3 ESV
I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Although entitled to wear the clothing the Vassal usually hung these ceremonial gifts in a special place, perhaps a Great Hall of his castle both as a reminder of the Covenant and a display to visitors to impress them “of his relationship.
This exchange of clothing signified the total acceptance of the individual and his family or tribe, into the family or tribe of the other Covenant partner. All the family rights and obligations of each side are then transferred to one another. All the wealth and the possessions of each of the Covenant partners becomes the possession of the other.”
1 Samuel 18:1–4 ESV
As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day and would not let him return to his father’s house. Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, and his armor, and even his sword and his bow and his belt.
Ephesians 6:13–18 ESV
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
Revelation 19:13 ESV
He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
Revelation 7:14 ESV
I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Exchange of Names
This exchange is not simply a matter of a woman accepting the man’s name as hers, the significance of accepting the man’s name is to show the world that these two people are now one unit. All they have is the possession of each other and the care and protection of the woman is now the responsibility of her husband, the protection and care of the husband is the responsibility of the wife.
Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah- the Ha is God “The meaning of the characters used for the change in their names is that they denote Deity. God has not just changed their names but in a sense He has also added deity to the name ”
“The meaning of the characters used for the change in their names is that they denote Deity. God has not just changed their names but in a sense He has also added deity to the name ”
Revelation 2:17 ESV
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.’
Revelation 3:12 ESV
The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
Ephesians 2:11–13 ESV
Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Revelation 3:5 ESV
The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
EXCHANGE OF GIFTS
Acts 2:38 ESV
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
“During the ceremony there was an exchange of the Covenant Gift. Often two gifts were given, a personal gift and a public gift. Usually the gifts came from the Great King to the Vassal King but sometimes the Vassal would also give a gift. While both gifts were given as a memorial of the Covenant, the personal gift was exactly that, a personal gift between the kings themselves given to remind the vassal of his relationship. The vassal may or may not reveal this personal gift to others.”
God gave Abraham- wealth and a child
Abraham gave God- his foreskin…
Abraham and Abimilech- Abraham gives both gifts- phillistines
Lesser blessed by the greater
Cutting the Covenant
“Covenant in Hebrew means a cut-where-blood-flows.”
“To “Cut the Covenant” is the proper term given when the sacrificial animal is prepared and killed for the Covenant partners as the substitute sacrifice on behalf of one another. Without the Cutting of the Covenant, there is no Blood Covenant. There can be agreements, leagues and promises, yet not a Blood Covenant.”
Acts 15:28–29 ESV
For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements: that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.”
“There are those who are kings because they are born with a crown upon their heads; there are those who are kings because they have been adopted into a royal family; and there are those who have seized a throne by force. But in all history, only God’s chosen people hold the throne by this triple right! Their claim could hardly be more secure. No coup against them can hope to succeed. No insurrection can disturb their dominion. Their sovereignty is invincible!
Your right to the throne is established
1: By the new birth, which has made you the Father’s child.
2: By adoption in Christ, which has doubly strengthened your legal claim.
3: By conquest, through your access by faith to the triumph of Christ’s resurrection and ascension.”
