Ephesians Review

Chapter One:

Notice the word “ACCORDING” in Ephesians – same root as the musical

term “chord” – acting in harmony with God’s pleasure, purpose and power.

Very wicked city - would kill Timothy gruesomely as an old man many yrs after the writing of Paul.

KEY: Maturity = learning how to work out what God has already placed in you!

Baby in the womb has the DNA, genes that it will have as an adult, it just takes time to reveal

This is why Satan fights us every step of the way, he is intimidated by your DNA

God has a solution to EVREY challenge Satan can put in your way.

Before the trap has sprung, there is a way of escape!

Before Adam’s first sin, Jesus was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the earth!

Stop worrying about your current condition and focus of your eternal position!

Chapter Two:

God is constantly moving.

Building and making

You don’t need to know what you have in God as much as what God has in you!

We have INHERENT power, or power that is in our possession but dependent on our releasing it or activating it

I’m not a human being having a spiritual experience; I’m a spiritual being having a human experience!

Just as your body separated from your spirit cannot function on earth, your spirit separated from God’s spirit cannot function in God’s Kingdom!

Satan was supernaturally powerful and much smarter than we were

The world system surrounded us from birth

And we were imprisoned in our carnal sin nature

Yet we somehow managed to escape.

Because God is rich in mercy!

Chapter Three:

It took one night to get Israel out of Egypt, but forty years to get Egypt out of Israel.

grace is not God’s ability to overlook our sin, it is the ability He gives to us to live above sin!

GRACE = power or empowerment

GRACE is the power to CHANGE!)

In the ages of eternity God will say “Look how much I did with so little”

GOD DID IT, BUT WE NEED TO WALK IN IT!

SALVATION IS THE MOST ELASTIC WORD IN THE BIBLE ...

JUSTIFICATION = Past “I was saved”

SANCTIFICATION = Present “I am being saved”

GLORIFICATION = Future “I will be saved”

I WAS, AM and WILL BE saved from the PENALTY of sin POWER of sin PRESENCE of sin

God is working to the OUTSIDE what He has deposited on the INSIDE

Christ not only GIVES peace (temporary), He IS our peace (permanent)

We are a part of the household of God!

Satan’s only hope of overthrowing our faith is creating DISUNITY

if we live in UNITY, it creates a “habitation of God” among us

Key point: YOU CANNOT LOVE CHRIST WITHOUT LOVING HIS BODY!

A believer at war with his brother cannot be at peace with his father!

God always reveals Himself, His principles and His purposes progressively in stages.

Chapter Four:

Maturity = Christ feeling at home in us!

God calls you to do things YOU cannot do!

i.e. He called Peter to walk on the water, and Lazarus to come out of the grave

He imparts His ability to us as we walk with Him

“walk worthy”

Walk as though you were already at the place you are pursuing

Don't walk according to where you are

Defiantly don’t walk according to where you were.

Faith calls those things that are NOT as though they WERE

WALK AS THOUGH YOU ARE!

Chapter Five

Do outwardly for others what He has done inwardly for you

You prove your love for God every day by preaching the gospel with your life.

Have you ever wondered why a living sacrifice is expected?

Because at any moment you can choose to, can get off the alter!

Every day we decide!

I will die today!

Sexual purity

“children of light” = “native to the light”

When we are born again, the enemy has no right to reproduce his fruit in our lives anymore

“time” - Two words for time chronos and kairos

“chronos” (time measured by the clock)

“kairos” (special moments of God’s visitation)

Redeeming the special moments

You lose your inhibitions under Holy Ghost influence!

God has chosen submission as the principle of the kingdom that sets the tone for ALL relationships

SUBMISSION is when you give up your will for another’s

(“sub-mission” - your mission under my mission)

There is no submission when there is not disagreement or conflict

...that is not submission, that is just agreement!

Our marriage should be an example of Christ’s relationship with the church!

Christ loved something that He had to keep working on

Pastor believes the best in me, wants the best for me and expect the best from me!
