Identity Theft
Week 1
Remember Who You Are!
Welcome to FFM where we believe in equipping God’s people in the spirit of love by any means necessary!
Wisdom Vaccination: (This is to keep you from catching the fool.)
1 Peter 2:9 NIV
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Aren’t you glad that, “Chosen people,” which used to apply only to Israel, was now used of both Jewish and Gentile believers?
Identity Theft
INTRO:
The 5 most known ways that Identity Theft takes place:
1. Medical identity theft. (using someone else insurance)
2. Criminal identity theft. (your pulled over and say your someone else)
3. Child identity theft. (using a kids SS# to commit fraud)
4. Identity cloning & concealment. (impersonating another to hide self)
5. Synthetic identity theft. (using real and fake info to create a new identity)
But there is one that happens more than any of those and that’s Spiritual identity theft.
(When someone or something causes you to lose, forget or be misunderstood about your identity.)
Genesis 1:27 NIV
So, God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

There is this scene from the lion king where Rafiki brings Simba to the water hole because his evil uncle Skar had stolen away his identity.
Simba’s father appears in the clouds to tell Simba to remember who he is.
And there is an evil that exist still to this day who is always at work to take away the believer’s identity.
Satan, who is the enemy of God, is at work and he uses the culture and society at large to lure us and tempt us away from God.
Remember Who You Are
John 10:10 NIV
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.
If he can steal your identity, he can keep you from eternal life with God.
Genesis 1:26-27 NIV
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
So, God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 2:18 NIV
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Genesis 2:22-24 NIV
Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Malachi 2:15 NIV
Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.
This was the identity that God for man and woman.
The serpent stole Eve’s identity in the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 3:1 NIV
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
Here is the tip of the day.
If you really don’t know what God said, you can be tricked or deceived out of your identity.
In today’s society there is a huge population of people that confess to be Christian but don’t KNOW what God says.
Some can quote what the Bible says, but because of a lack of real Biblical study training, the understanding is not always there.
You can’t understand an ancient historical text with a Western cultured mindset.
Getting back to Eve.
She allowed the deceptive words of the serpent to cause doubt about who God really was to them and thus it caused her to lose who she really was.
You will never really know who you are if you don’t really know who God is.
The serpent from Genesis is still using his same formula to steal identity from mankind today.
He gets us confused about who we really are by manipulating situations in our life through people.
When we don’t see who God truly is in spite of what we go through, Satan uses this confusion to rob us every time.
Steps to reclaiming your identity.
1. In prayer ask Holy Spirit to reveal any lies you believe about yourself or about God.
2. As he shows you, reject the lies and ask him for the truth about you or about God. (As often as needed.)
3. When he shows you people that were involved in your negative process, forgive them and pray for them to get free, healed and to reclaim their identity.
4. Ask God as often as you need to, to restore your true identity in him.
5. Keep feeding yourself with who God is and who you are through the word of God.
What is Holy Spirit saying to you through this message?
