Scripture: John 8:31-36

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Definition of Freedom: from the Oxford dictionaryfreedman■ noun (plural freedmen) historical an emancipated slave.freedom■ noun1 the power or right to act, speak, or think freely.▶ the state of having free will.2 the state of being free.▶ unrestricted use of something.3 (freedom from) the state of not being subject to or affected by (something undesirable).
1. Real Discipleship: vs. 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
2. Know The Truth: vs. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
3. The Son’s Authority vs. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Real Discipleship, as Jesus indicates, is not to merely believe, but also to abide (dwell) in “HIS” Word!
To abide in His word is more than simply reading about Him, but to Live, your life in His Word. Jesus places emphasis on continuing to follow his teaching, which suggest that your life will become an example of His Life.
Consider this that there are many who hear the word of the Lord but don’t grasp His message. Others are willing to be a part of the event, but are not willing to make the sacrifice or give up what it cost to follow Him. Then you have those that believe they are not a slave or in bondage to any thing, therefore they will not respond to His word purely due to a false understanding of themselves. But to be a Real disciple is to not only hear the message of The Master, but to FOLLOW HIM. Don’t forget that to Follow Him, is to Forsake, Give Up everything else.
Secondly, Jesus shows us that in order to “Really” Be Free, It will require that you “Know The Truth!” Listen to what He says. “And You Shall Know The Truth, and the Truth Shall Make You Free.”
Precious people of God, listen to what Jesus is saying. “The Truth” will make you free. Therefore it is most important to “Know The Truth.”
The Truth will make you free. Listen, Jesus is not talking about truth as in the legalistic truth. Nor is he talking as in reference to a philosophical viewpoint. Because one man’s truth may be a non truth to another. So Jesus is not talking about that truth, but rather He is talking about Himself. He is The Truth! John 14:6. Jesus tells his disciples that He is “the way, the Truth, and The Life!”
Simply put, Jesus is talking about Himself. “And You Shall Know The Truth - ME, and The Truth I shall make you Free. Yes Lord! To know Jesus is to truly be made Free. Nobody has the wherewithal to even began to access the door of freedom, let alone make you Free. Nobody but Jesus! So if you are Really Going to Be Free, you need to know Jesus! Im not merely talking about knowing His name. No No, Im talking about Knowing Him! The Apostle Paul said, “ there are a lot of things I know, but I want to know Jesus. I want to know Him in His Fulness. I want to know Jesus!!!!!!
