Are You in the Light? Part 2- Pastor Joseph Munoz 1 John 1:5 - 5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness. Why study 1 John 1. To not be deceived by false doctrines or teachers. 2. To identify the deceived and lost and evangelize to them. 3. To be encouraged through genuine belief. We are in the Light if... 1. We enjoy/prefer True Christian fellowship. 2. We view our sin the same way God views sin. 3. We strive to know and keep God's word. 1 John 2:15-17 We are in the Light if... 4. We do not desire or love the World. 2 Peter 1:4 - 4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escape the corruption that is in the world by lust. James 4:4 - 31 Now judgement is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. Luke 4:6-8 Galatians 5:19-21 - 19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such thing s will not inherit the kingdom of God. 1 John 2:23 We are in the Light if... 5. We know the only way to the Father is through Christ. John 14:6 - 6 Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. Luke 16:22-26 1 John 3:2 We are in the Light if... 6. We are looking forward to the day we meet Christ. Philippians 1:21-24 - 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. 23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; 24 yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. 1 John 3:9 We are in the Light if... 7. We do not practice sin. 1 John 2:1 - 1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.
