Part 6: Sin & Salvation
Genesis 3:1-8
Apostles’ Creed: “…I believe in… the forgiveness of sins.”

1.) We are all sinners.
- Romans 3:23, “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
- hamartia; to miss the mark; to err; to wander from the path of uprightness and honor; to do or go wrong; to violate God’s law; to sin.
- Isaiah 53:6a, “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way…”
2.) The consequences of sin is death.
- Genesis 3:19, “…for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
- Romans 6:23a, “For the wages of sin is death…”
- Romans 5:12-17, “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.”
- James 1:13-15, “…after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
- Romans 7:24, “…Who will rescue me from this body of death?”
3.) Salvation is found by faith in Jesus.
- Romans 7:25, “…Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
- Matthew 1:21, “[Jesus] will save his people from their sins.”
- Romans 5:8, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
- Romans 6:23b, “…but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
- Mark 16:16, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
- 1 Cor. 15:21-23; 2 Cor. 5:17-18a
