 Learning for Life

 Learning the Truth

 What is truth?

"What is truth?" Pilate asked. (John 18:38, NIV)

 Bible and Truth

For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. (Psalm 33:4, NIV)

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14, NIV)

 Jesus and Truth

22 times in gospels Jesus says "I tell you the truth"

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6, NIV)

 Lifelong Learning

 Familiar concept

 Professionally

 Christians no different

Learn and grow throughout our lives

 Reading the Bible

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV)

 Listening to sermons

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, (Ephesians 1:13, NIV)

 Learning and Living

True learning requires humility and is never completed

… the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel (Colossians 1:5, NIV)

 Practise what you preach

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24, NIV)

But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: (1 John 2:5, NIV)

 Jesus' prayer for us

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:17, NIV)

 God working in us

… being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6, NIV)
