The sacrament of the Lord's Supper at Covenant Church is for all those who, by faith, have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, do now repent of sin, endeavor to live a holy life in gratitude to Christ, and have publicly professed their faith through baptism and membership (or are pursuing membership) in a Gospel-proclaiming Church. Children who have not publicly confessed Christ and been admitted to Church membership should refrain from the sacrament and learn by reverent observation, even though they may have already received Christ privately in their heart. Those without personal saving faith in Jesus Christ are to refrain from the sacrament and are urged now to receive Him by repentance and faith. This admonition is given in love as a Biblical warning that "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself."
