2 Kings Oilpots
2 Kings 4:1-4:7
She wanted the prophet to do something for her, to help her out of her dilemma, some kind of blessing to help her out of her mess.
What the Man of God really said to her was: It’s already in the house
I know it’s a little hard to believe right now, but your healing is already in the house, your financial breakthrough, your prosperity, your new car, your new anointing, the salvation of your children.
It’s already in the house.
Let me say also that there are millionaires in the house, there are apostles and prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists in the house, there are miracles, signs and wonders in the house.
This woman was desperate, she was looking for a blessing, a way out of her problem, but she needed more than just a blessing, she needed more than a few dollars, she needed a life style change, she needed a turn around.
If there is one thing that I know about God it is that he is in the business of turning things around.
I hear the Lord saying turn around, God is getting ready to turn some things around, somebody
Body has a court ruling, a decision that’s been made against them, but God said he is going to step in and turn it around.
Somebody has been fighting sickness, God said health is coming.
Where there has been lack, abundance is coming
Where there has been sorrow, joy is coming
Where there has been confusion, peace is coming.
Where there has been loss, God says restoration is coming
If you can believe it today, God is getting ready to change your lifestyle.
This woman was desperate: The bible says (Now there cried ) This most likely means that she had reached what she considered the critical point, if she was like most of us she had tried everything she could think of but nothing changed.
(like the woman with the issue of blood who had tried many physicians, and spent all she had, and was nothing better but in fact grew worse) Her desperation brought her to Jesus
This woman said: The creditor is come to take my two sons to be bondmen.
Is come:
Not just talking about it, not calling me and harassing me, or threatening to take me to court, not sending me mean letters in the mail.
He is come
Let me make it a little plainer and maybe a little more personal
Divorce is come
Cancer is come
Bankruptcy is come
The storm is come
In other words: it’s my house that’s in trouble now, it’s not just your children on drugs now, it’s mine
It’s not your teenager that’s pregnant, now it’s mine
It’s not some unknown nameless soldier over in Iraq now it’s my son, my daughter, my husband.
It’s not your house their foreclosing on, it’s mine
It’s not your kid locked up in jail for gang banging it’s mine
It’s not your son that just came out of the closet and said he’s really a woman trapped in a mans body, it’s mine.
There is just something about it, that when it comes to your house it’s different.
For some reason we get a little more serious and aggressive about it when it’s our boat that is sinking.
She reached the place of desperation and cried unto the prophet
There comes a point where you don’t have time to be cute anymore, and you don’t care who sees you cry,
Desperation has a way of getting rid of foolish pride.
When Jairus got desperate for his daughter to be healed, he didn’t care who saw him with Jesus, his reputation as a religious leader didn’t mean anything compared to the life of his daughter.
Sometimes desperation is a good thing.
Desperation pushes you to do things you wouldn’t normally do.
Desperation pushes you past your comfort zone.
When you get desperate for a miracle, you don’t worry if someone likes the way you shout or not, you don’t care if they roll their eyes at you.
Desperate people do desperate things.
Desperate people will run red lights, break speed limits, break religious traditions, risk their lives, climb a tree, jump in a lake, crawl on their hands and their knees, get their fingers stepped on and their feelings stepped on and keep on coming.
There’s something about desperation that puts a fire in your belly.
When you get desperate your willing to look stupid
Desperate people aren’t worried about being dignified, If you’ve ever been in an emergency situation you know that when it’s a matter of life and death dignity is no issue.
By the time people reach desperation they’re willing to try anything.
Desperation is the breeding ground for miracles.
It was her desperation that brought her to the prophet.
The prophet represents the Word Of God.
What you need is a word from God, one word from God can completely change your world, get you out of your mess and transform your life.
The prophet didn’t give her anything except a Word
What do you have in the House?
What do you have already?
She underestimated what she had in the house:
She said (nothing except a pot of oil)
Don’t underestimate the anointing; everything you need is in the anointing.
Your miracle is in the anointing, Your joy is in the anointing, Your prosperity is in the anointing.
Your deliverance is in the anointing. Your promotion is in the anointing.
David said: Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over.
If you are not careful you could miss this revelation:
Every empty vessel that was filled that produced a total lifestyle change for this woman and her sons, came from a little pot of oil that was already in the house.
There’s a miracle in the House:
Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow (not a few).
Follow the directions:
If this woman was like us, most of the time all we’re really concerned with is to get out of trouble, to get out debt, get out of a bad relationship, get out of pain, get out of conflict, we just want relief.
But God is wanting to do more than just get you out of your mess, he wants to do more than just get the devil off your back, the creditors off your back.
God wants to bless you, to change your lifestyle;
But first you have to admit you need his help:
Every borrowed empty vessel was a declaration of desperation, it was admitting to God, I’m as empty as this vessel, I am as weak and powerless as this vessel.
Sometimes the reason God can’t bless us and release miracles into our lives is we are too full already, too full of pride, too full of self sufficiency, human wisdom.
People come to church after filling up all week long on carnality, watching and listening to things that excite the flesh, while their spirit is starving.
And then they come to the church and want God to top them off with a blessing to carry them through the week.
Every door they knocked on, and every empty vessel they borrowed declared their desperation and their emptiness, but it was also prophetic, because every empty vessel prophesied of a potential blessing.
Every empty vessel said I’m getting ready to be filled.
They that hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled.
4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons,
Let me stop right here and say: When you need a miracle, when you need a breakthrough, you need the right people around you.
You have to know who to shut in with you and who to shut out, It ain’t every brother that wants you blessed, your greatest opposition to going to the next level in God will come from religion.
Religious people that can’t see what you can see, and they can’t hear what you can hear, so they can’t believe that God can do what you are believing for.
The wrong people will rob you of your miracle, talk you out of your prosperity, ridicule you out of your healing.
10 negative spies talked an entire nation out of their God given inheritance.
When you are desperate you can’t afford to have negative people around you, negativism will kill the spirit of faith.
You have to create an environment for faith to grow and develop.
Shut the door:
I know it’s hard for some of us to be that bold and that aggressive, but Jesus did it, and Peter did it.
And you will have to do it also.
Your life depends on it.
4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt (shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons), and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
5 (So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her); and she poured out.
When you are needing a miracle, you have got to have people in your world who will help your faith, (they brought the vessels to her).
You need people around you who will stay with you even when it looks crazy and don’t make sense.
Let me go a step farther and say: you need people around you that believe in you, and even if they can’t see what you see, they believe that you see it and they will encourage you to go for it.
Pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
In other words, don’t just put a little bit in each vessel, fill up each vessel one at a time, and don’t stop till it’s full.
Fill it up before you start on another one.
One of the reasons some of Gods people are still having lust problems is they’re not full yet, you still want to go places Christians shouldn’t go, watch things Christians shouldn’t watch and listen to things Christians shouldn’t listen to.
Because your not full, I didn’t say you weren’t touched, and blessed, I didn’t say that you didn’t fall out and shake all over the place, I didn’t say that you didn’t speak in tongues, I just said you’re not full.
When your full you go into a different category, (Set aside that which is full).
When your full you go into the ready for use category.
Lu 24:49 Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high.
Acts 2: and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost
When God is looking for someone to send to Africa he looks in the full category, when he is looking for someone to send into the prisons and preach deliverance to the captives he looks in the full category.
When God is looking to promote someone, and elevate them and increase their sphere of influence he looks in the full category.
Are you full yet?
Don’t stop till your full
One of the problems we have in the church is we have too many Christians who have the burl cream religion.
For those who may be too young to know what I’m talking about, burl cream is a hair dressing to hold your hair in place, and the slogan for it was (burl cream, a little dab’ll do ya’)
We have too many Christians who have the little dab’ll do me mentality.
They’re satisfied with just a touch, satisfied to be blessed, they want just enough to make them happy but not enough to make them live holy separated consecrated lives.
But I read in the bible that Our God is a consuming fire, and he doesn’t just want to touch you or bless you he wants to consume you.
He wants to walk through your feet, touch through your hands, speak through your lips.
When you get full you’ll walk different, you’ll talk different, you’ll sing different, you’ll preach different, you’ll pray different, you’ll dress different.
When you get full of the Holy Ghost it will affect every part of your life.
When you get full your radio station will change, your television channel will change, your associations will change.
Ever so often my cell phone has to be recharged. When I put it on the charger the light flashes red, I know that means (leave me on the charger I’m not ready yet) then after awhile it flashes green, I know that means I’m ready for service now.
Somebody today needs to get back on the charger and wait for the green light from the Holy ghost that says Your full your ready for service.
I hope I’m talking to somebody that wants more than a Sunday morning religion, more than just a weekend blessing, more than a burl cream anointing ( a little dab’ll do you).
I wish somebody was desperate for the fire of God.
I wish somebody would lift their hands and cry out to God, I’m Desperate, I’m thirsty and I’m not leaving till I’m full.
Fill me up so you can pour me out
Fill me up so you can use me
Fill me up so you can send me out.
I wish somebody was desperate like this woman, so desperate you don’t care what any body thinks about you, so desperate you’d stretch out on the floor, so desperate you’d climb a tree, so desperate you’d risk criticism and persecution.
When we get desperate, something is going to happen, when we get desperate we’re at the turning point, when we get desperate we’re going to get a fresh revelation of the glory of God.
You see the truth is today: Everything you need is already in the house, it’s in the anointing what we have to do is wake it up.
Activate it.
Paul told Timothy to stir up the gift that was in him.
When you Pray in the Holy Ghost you Stir the anointing, you wake up and activate the anointing.
When you praise God you activate the anointing
When you dance you activate the anointing
When you shout you activate the anointing.
When you lift your hands or clap your hands you activate the anointing.
If you see me dancing, or if you see me waving my hands around, or if you hear me speaking in tongues, I don’t want to be offensive to you, but I’m just waking up my anointing, I’m activating my anointing.
Every thing you need is already in the House.
Tell your Neighbor: Neighbor excuse me while I wake up my anointing.
Let me close:
5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.
Her whole lifestyle changed that day, when she activated the anointing.
And the word of the Lord to us today is the same as it was to her; It’s already in the house.
