It’s Time To Move On

Joshua 1:6 NLT
6 “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith!
Intro:
The great book of Joshua opens with the call of God to Joshua. Joshua was the chief aide to Moses and he was the military commander of the armed forces of Israel.
God had already called and commissioned Joshua to replace Moses upon the death of Moses.
Deuteronomy 34:8 NLT
8 The people of Israel mourned for Moses on the plains of Moab for thirty days, until the customary period of mourning was over.
They mourned for Moses 30 days then God spoke to Joshua
Joshua 1:2 NCV
2 The Lord said, “My servant Moses is dead. Now you and all these people go across the Jordan River into the land I am giving to the Israelites.
What happens when someone you love and cherish dies,
What happens when something you wanted so bad, you wanted it to go on forever dies
What happens when that marriage dies
What happens when that relationship dies
What happens when that job let’s you go
Joshua 1:2 The Message
2 “Moses my servant is dead. Get going. Cross this Jordan River, you and all the people. Cross to the country I’m giving to the People of Israel.

Don't Get Stuck in Life's Passageways

Life is like a mansion. Many of us spend our life in the hallways.
Stuck! Stuck between the big living room of a yesterday with all our regrets , disapointments, hurts and fears !
So we are stuck in this space of comfort of the past - even when it’s dead and the Fantasy of trying to walk into the next large room of tomorrow!
Here’s Another way to look at it!
Many people I know seem to be going nowhere. Again ,
They are stuck somewhere between a yesterday that shackles them and enslaves them and the fantasy of a tomorrow in which they cannot grab.
Life is like that, and too many of us are frozen between potential experiences that are indicators to move forward and the memories that enslave us.
See after the death of Moses, God said bluntly to Joshua,
"Moses my servant is dead.
Stand up and lead this people forward."
Joshua Get Going
I think, the most obvious difference between emotional, mental, and spiritual maturity and a lack of emotional, mental and spiritual maturity is the ability or inability to live in a world where it is easy to “check out”! Because this world provides a thousand escape mechanisms.
Things that distract us or send us in a negative spiral and prevent us from doing the business that God has purposed in our lives.
God forced Joshua into reality. "Moses is dead. Life goes on.
Stand up. Go forward.
" God gives us tears to weep, but not forever.
He allows our hearts to break, but not indefinitely.
There is almost a sternness in the text as God says to his servant,
"Life goes on. Face reality.
The man is dead. Get on with it."

God's Already Been Where You're Going

Joshua 1:3 NKJV
3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.
Joshua 1:3 NLT
3 I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you—
Fear of tomorrow can be as crippling as slavery to the past, but
God is already in your tomorrow.
He's already been where you're going.
As a child of God, do not fear what lies ahead.
He holds the future, and He holds you in His hand.
God has gone before you and secured tomorrow on your behalf.
Hear Me Now - I’m speaking to someone
Notice God does not say, "Everywhere your foot shall trod I will give you," but he say’s , "I have given unto you."
He's already done it.
With God, there's no yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
He not only sees the beginning and the end, He is the beginning and the end.
John 16:33 NLT
33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Ephesians 6:10–13 NCV
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his great power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil’s evil tricks. 12 Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world. 13 That is why you need to put on God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil you will be able to stand strong. And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing.

Tomorrow is already today with God. Don't be afraid to walk into it.

God Has a Wonderful Blueprint for Your Life

Joshua 1:4 NCV
4 All the land from the desert in the south to Lebanon in the north will be yours. All the land from the great river, the Euphrates, in the east, to the Mediterranean Sea in the west will be yours, too, including the land of the Hittites.
God Has The Blueprint for your Future!
Blueprint - a photographic copy of an early plan for a building or machine an early plan or design that explains how something might be achieved:
God is in every detail. He has prepared all things for you and they will work together for your good.
Romans 8:28 NKJV
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Our Lord has left nothing to chance. He is never surprised or caught off guard.
He is a sovereign God who has carefully planned a beautiful life for you.
He who loves you more than you know has left nothing to chance.
What a perfect blueprint God outlines!
He promised Joshua vast territory on every side—from the desert to Lebanon, to the great Euphrates River, all the land of the Hittites, all the way to the great sea where the sun sets in the west.
God also outlines the north, south, east, and west borders of your life. God's will is going to be done in your life if you love Him, trust Him, and go forward.
He has prepared everything specifically for you so that all things will work together for your good.
A full and victorious life is one of the great promises of God.
For the believer who marches forth laying claim to the promised land will be victorious.
There is only one condition: you must trust God, really focus on God, moving forward and seeking his promises!
When you do that you will conquer all the enemies, trials, and temptations that confront him.
Romans 8:35 NKJV
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Romans 8:37–39 NLT
37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We live a full and victorious live through the presence and power of our Lord Jesus Christ

Yesterday's Faithfulness Guarantees Tomorrow's Courage

Joshua 1:5–7 NKJV
5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
God will be with you!
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
He will prosper you wherever you go.
How could Joshua be confident and courageous in the challenge of tomorrow?
The answer lies in God's faithfulness
Joshua had observed in the life of Moses.
What Moses had done, Joshua will do.

Be strong and be encouraged.

I believe that a full and victorious life is one of the great promises of God.
God has also promised His unbroken presence,
He won’t leave us
No matter what enemy you face
No matter what trial you face
No matter what or temptation you face
No matter what trouble you face
No matter what difficulty you face,
No matter what problem you face
No matter what the size of the problem you face
No matter the strength of the problem you face
No matter the the destructive potential of the obstacle you Face
God will be with us.
His unfailing presence will never leave us nor forsake us.
When you move forward laying claim to the promises of God you will receive them.
Genesis 28:15 NCV
15 I am with you and will protect you everywhere you go and will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
Joshua 1:5 The Message
5 All your life, no one will be able to hold out against you. In the same way I was with Moses, I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you.
Isaiah 43:2 The Message
2 When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end—

The Charge: Be "strong and courageous"

You must be strong and courageous in obeying God.
You must keep His law,
You must keep his commandments
You must keep his Holy Word
You must never turn away from His Word;
You must meditate on his word
If you obey God, living in His Word and keeping His commandments, you will prosper and be successful in whatever you do.
Prosperous in whatever you put your hands to -
Prosperous in the things you do for they will be blessed by God.
God will give you purpose, God will give you achievement,
God will give you fulfillment
Matthew 6:33 NKJV
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
