TEXTS: “O ye that love Jehovah, hate evil” (Ps. 97:10 ASV). “That which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God” (Luke 16:15b ASV).
INTRODUCTION: We should hate the things that are abominable to Him. The Book of Proverbs tells us that the “perverse man (3:32) and the “way of the wicked” (12:26; 15:9) are abominable in God’s sight; it also describes that “way.”

I. Lying (6:17).

II. Murder (6:17).

III. Wicked schemes (6:18).

IV. Preoccupation with evil (6:18).

V. False witness (6:19).

VI. Discord with brothers (6:19).

VII. Arrogant pride, evil conduct, perverse speech (8:13).

VIII. Cheating of consumers (20:10, 23).

IX. Sex perversions (Lev. 18:6–30).

XI. Disregard for God’s Law (28:9).

CONCLUSION: What God loves, I must love; what God hates, I must hate. We must have hatred for evil and love for righteousness and truth. “Hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good” (Rom. 12:9).
