we've been talking a lot about Papa's heart guys. Remember the last couple weeks. The first one that we talked about is why do you do what you do your motives the second week we talked about talked about pursuing God's heart. But I think the biggest thing is when you pursue something and you don't get it. I grew up watching Looney Tunes, right? Anybody else there with me I'm talking about before it was all these regulations on violence with guns and they give Elmer Fudd and what does he have now? He doesn't have nothing. So Elmer Fudd would always chase after bugs and Daffy, right? And the funniest thing about that is how many times did he actually get them? never I just watched Tom and Jerry Wright. And how many times did Tom actually get Jerry? never

Do you know when your life when you're pursuing something? How many times do you actually get it?

How many times do you actually get what you're chasing after? But you're hungry and after which we feel like I'm going to get it back. I know you got it buddy.

I've been there to where you like. Well maybe God saying no.

Or maybe he's trying to producing you perseverance.

But I tell you one thing. Hope deferred makes the heart sick. It's when you are believing for something you were expecting to receive something and then you don't get it.

I can't imagine Peter like this is the best thing that ever happened in my life feed the best person that came into my life who really really looked at me as something more and he's gone. I can remember the tax collector said she saw me more than a tax collector. He performed Miracles. And they still didn't sense God.

This is deception that comes with this list that I want to warn you guys about.

The deception is if I pray harder, I'll be closer. If I worship louder I'll be closer if I Bible study so my head is full of so much knowledge. I mean, I really racked up those Moody credits. I'll be that much closer if I fast and if I mean fast really fast like Jesus fast for 40 days and nights. Babe, I just spent I rocking back and forth to my favorite rocking chair, and I just meditate. Maybe I can be Lord. I learned you were dice. I've learned the whole book of John for crying out loud.

I love Jesus cuz when the religious leaders came to him, they looked at him in Jesus responded. They had all these questions for me Jesus responded by this as you search the scriptures nice for you think you have life in them, but you're totally missing the life in front of you through the Son of God being revealed. whoa

Jesus is saying you spend so much time learning scripture that you don't even see it when it's alive in front of your face.

I was struggling with faith. I knew that if you have a lot of faith that I was trying to discern what faith was and And I heard this actually I'm Moody Radio in it and it helped me. I'm clear a lot of things up. He said if you have a lot of faith if there's like I'm two Pawns in one has I'm 64 device on it, and the other has only a half inch of ice, but you have a lot of if you have a lot of I'm faith in only a half inch of ice if that would be what God would want you to do to walk across that or if you would with a little faith just walk across a pond with I'm six foot of ice and I would have picked the half inch of ice and a lot of faith, but I don't think anybody would have went with me.

I was putting faith on my faith that I could walk on a half inch of ice which in reality. It doesn't work if you have a little bit of faith in Christ the object of your face. In this he never lets you down. You can easily walk on six foot of ice and have even a little bit of faith if your face is is in the object. So I realize that putting face on my face to think that I could walk on a half inch Vise isn't you know, even I'm realistic I have to put it in the object in that is in Christ. Thanks Mel.

A lot of times what we do is we put our faith in our activity. Put our faith in as much as we can pray and worship and bible study. We put our faith in our ability. Instead of putting our faith in God's ability.

I don't know about you but your wedding crisis and you prayed and you really started quoting scripture at that thing and you're like what I mean, you start throwing scripture like nice and declaring Proclaim connect with God.

But God it's his ability to save us then it must be his ability to keep us and his ability to draw and his ability to sustain us.

It's not so much our ability, but it's God's ability working in and through us which is another way of saying grace.

And it keeps me from boasting in myself and becoming a prideful arrogance spiritual person.

It keeps me from doing that and now I'm living in a place called humility.

But God wants to invite each and everyone of us to a place called Good and Plenty.

I'm going to tell you guys a joke. You ready? Oh, yeah.

So I'm sitting there eating Good and Plenty candy and black licorice. And I know I probably shouldn't but you know, I told you I'm trying to escape cuz my leg and I can't move a lot and I know it's going to cause inflammation not to go down as much but I wanted some black licorice, right? Right, so I had options. I had Good and Plenty and just black licorice. So we got all three. 2 and then the joke kind of hit me. I looked at my wife and said honey. She's saying don't say it. She's shaking her head over don't do it on me. Just don't do it. I was like I am so black that my breath even smells black.

She's like, oh my gosh. Are they smell it?

but when you're in your when your and your day-to-day walk with God I'm going to charge you not to rely on your behavior modification.

Which is your ability to behave in a way that you think is presentable to God. Let me say that again in your ability to behave in a way that you think is presentable to God. behavior modification

He's interested in your heart a communion of the heart with him a real living relationship from your heart that you're really not feeling it. You can say God. I'm not feeling it today.

You didn't got to be like dare you. I need a lot of times. We think that like we're taught to like these like religious and not be real. We were taught to be religious like if you grew up in church than you know how to be religious and if you just recently got saved or you can learn how to be religious. We got classes on it so cute.

God desires you just continue with him. He doesn't want you to try to feel like you got to perform. You got to change your Viewpoint. He wants you to be you and he wants to do something with you call transformation by his Spirit by Grace upon you.

Another is something that you are required to do. I'm going to bring scripture in this but I want you to know I'm not just talking this to sound good but their scripts are reliving scripture that God gives us like a blueprint of what we do in order to allow him to work in and effectively through us. So if you have your Bibles turn the James we're going to look at for James chapter 4 7 through 10. And I love this because James starts talking about friends with the world and how it's you can't really do it if you're in Christ because it's going to cause conflict your guys are going to go with the world. Are you going to go with God's view? You're going to just going to be this war within you and then you're going to become spiritually bipolar.

You know what? I mean? But depending on what the mood is, that's how you're doing. Depending on the climate of the world. That's how you're freezing. What is surrender to God stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you. Let's look at that surrender to God a lot of people try to fight the devil. Why are you fighting the devil, dude?

Come on, man. We try to fight the devil, but my Bible tells me he's already defeated. Jesus said lo and behold Satan fall like lightning.

So he's already defeated. He knows he is like if the Revelation it tells you clearly worry ends up at it's called the Lake of Fire.

So he's already defeated but this is something that isn't defeated that needs to be defeated and that's called self.

The hardest part is getting up to the devil the hardest part for the believer and people is to surrender to God.

I've been in different camps were there like that? We're going to do some research Warfare HooHa and they're going after this demon and I'm like what happened? So we just turn the hearts to God. I did not deem it gets handled naturally.

But being surrendered in your heart to the father mean Saints defeated already because God already finished him.

And then it just simply says it's resist him and he will turn and run away from you. Like Jesus did not fight with the devil. I want you to know in the amount of Temptation. Did you find them fighting with them? No. He surrendered to the will of God through the word of God and said God says this I'm agreeing with God. God says this I'm agreeing with God God's is this I'm surrendering the way I think to a God face and the devil's disciple and he leaves

yeah. That's what happened that we move on and it says move your heart closer and closer to God and he will come even closer to you. But make sure you cleanse your life. Thanksgiving to God turns your heart towards him that produces a worship within you naturally most of the struggles that worship leaders have with church is not just your other churches as well is that people come in and their minds are consumed with all the junk that they've been dealing with all week long.

I don't like what I think about how good God has been to me when I stopped focusing on your leg and what you can't do when I start thinking about how good Gods then and how wow that gun. There has to be this place where you encounter God in the heart you begin to worship Him and out of that worship birth a clean life.

The next one is repent repent something means change the way you think that means have your heart broken over the thing that you were dealing with like God. I just going to repent I'm going to turn my mind back towards you. I'm going to look to you and as you do that renew your mind renew your mind, but I don't know about you, but when I'm in the presence of God how many people know it brings life. When you can encounter God's presence.

it's so true. But if you get renewed in the spirit and then what God does the next thing that I want you to remember his redirect yourself. Allow the spirit to redirect you your steps what you're doing next allowed to redirect you. Cuz he wants to lead you into better path in better ways. So simple reach out to reach out to God for pain of things that you like. I'm going to change how I think about that. I'm going to allow you to renew me and I'm going to become redirected by your spirit.
