Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis:  Born to privilege, was “Debutante of the Year” in 1947.  She was married to the 35th President of the United States.  Had two children, only one of whom is still alive.  After the death of her first husband, she was married to a foreign businessman for less than 10 years when he, too, passed away.  She took a job at a major publishing firm and worked there until her death more than 10 years ago.

Katie Couric:  Graduated from the University of Virginia and is sister to a state senator of Virginia.  Was married once but then widowed just over 8 years ago.  Has two children.  Currently the darling of the news media, and is poised to make a major change in her career later this year.

Lucille Ball:  Born in New York, she was kicked out of drama school for being “too shy.”  However, she became one of our best-loved American actresses and comediennes, and raised to worldwide stardom because of a hilarious TV partnership with her foreign husband.  They had two children.  After their divorce, she remarried another comedian, and remained married to him until her death nearly 20 years ago.
