II. My Relationship to Man
Psalm 133:1 NKJV
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!
Rule #9. Never try to fix people: focus on giving them the word!
1 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV
For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the
things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God.
A. Trying to fix people our way, can cause an overreaction.
Luke 22:50–51 NKJV
And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.
And one of the disciples smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. 51 And Jesus
answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
B. The Word of God has the power to change lives.
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
For the word of God is living (alive) and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of
the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Rule #10. Accept people as they are, It is the first step to influencing them toward God.
Mark 2:16–17 NKJV
And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him (Jesus) eating with the tax collectors and sinners,
they said to His disciples, "How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?"
17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but
those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."
A. You can accept a person, without condoning their personality or sin.
John 8:7 NKJV
So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”
So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without
sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first."
B. Drop the rock.
John 8:10–11 NKJV
When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, "Woman,
where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?"
11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no
more."
Rule#11. Ministry is always about people not programs.
Matthew 23:15 NKJV
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you travel sea and land to win one
proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a child of hell than yourselves.
A. Programs are a tool, people are the priority.
Hebrews 6:1–2 NKJV
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to
perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward
God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of
eternal judgment.
1. Equip
Ephesians 4:11–13 NKJV
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors
and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the
body of Christ,
13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect
man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
2. Encourage
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NKJV
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
…keep on encouraging one another, and building up one another,
3. Empower
John 14:12 NKJV
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Jesus said
"Verily, Verily, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and
greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.
