Recognizing the Mind Shift

With the continual departure from Biblical teaching and Biblical world view in America, there has been a major acceptance of the LGBTQ lifestyle in American over the past 4 years. A new gallop pole shows 1 out of 6 young adults age 18-23 would claim to be something other than straight or heterosexual.

Defining the Terms

Gender:

: a person's internal sense of being male, female, some combination of male and female, or neither male nor female.

Facebook provides more than 50 options beyond "male" and "female" for users to describe their gender identity, from "gender questioning" and "neither" to "androgynous."— The Chicago Tribune

In other words inner identity: how you see and feel about yourself.

Sexuality:

: a person's sexual identity or self-identification as bisexual, straight, gay, pansexual, etc. : the state of being bisexual, straight, gay, pansexual, etc.

In other words sexual preference. Sexual preference answers the question of how you see and feel about others.

Biblical Understanding

The most significant question is how God feels about gender and sexuality. And there is no doubt by the Bible how He views them.

Sexual Immorality

Colossians 3:5–6 ESV

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming.

These actions are the sin nature of every person. It’s only when we find our identity in Christ that we understand things scripturally.

Abominations to God

Any and all types of homosexuality are an abomination to God (i.e. something God hates). Abominations is an action directly against the nature it was intended. Men were not created to have sex with men and women were not created to have sex with women.

Leviticus 18:19–23 ESV

“You shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness while she is in her menstrual uncleanness. And you shall not lie sexually with your neighbor’s wife and so make yourself unclean with her. You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. And you shall not lie with any animal and so make yourself unclean with it, neither shall any woman give herself to an animal to lie with it: it is perversion.

Leviticus 20:13 ESV

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

God’s Wrath

According to Romans 1:18-32, it is for these abominations that the wrath of God is coming upon the world. Notice in this passage the downward spiral of the mind.

They knew God and the truth of God

Romans 1:18–19 ESV

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.

They reject God and worship themselves.

Romans 1:21–22 ESV

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

They are given up to the lust of their hearts

Romans 1:24–25 ESV

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

They are given up to dishonorable passions.

Romans 1:26–27 ESV

For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

They are given up to a debased mind.

Romans 1:28–31 ESV

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

They promote and approve these practices to others.

Romans 1:32 ESV

Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Raising Your Kids with their identity in Christ.

Show a proper example of godly sexual love.

Abuse is the cause of so many mind problems when it come to sexuality.

The model of the home will be the base of other relationships.

Allow gender roles to be more fluid if the Bible allows.

There is nothing wrong with girls that don’t like to play with dolls or that like sports.

The traditional roles of men and women have changed in culture and most of these changes are not against scripture.
