Scripture: John 8:31-36

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

The Holloman Bible Dictionary says:
SIN Actions by which humans rebel against God, miss His purpose for their life, and surrender to the power of evil rather than to God.
The Lexham Bible Dictionary says:
Sin Human activity that is contrary to God’s will.
Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary says:
of human deviation from the expressed will and desire of God
To abide in His word is more than simply reading about Him, but to Live, your life in His Word. Jesus places emphasis on continuing to follow his teaching, which suggest that your life will become an example of His Life.
Consider this that there are many who hear the word of the Lord but don’t grasp His message. Others are willing to be a part of the event, but are not willing to make the sacrifice or give up what it cost to follow Him. Then you have those that believe they are not a slave or in bondage to any thing, therefore they will not respond to His word purely due to a false understanding of themselves. But to be a Real disciple is to not only hear the message of The Master, but to FOLLOW HIM. Don’t forget that to Follow Him, is to Forsake, Give Up everything else.
Secondly, Jesus shows us that in order to “Really” Be Free, It will require that you “Know The Truth!” Listen to what He says. “And You Shall Know The Truth, and the Truth Shall Make You Free.”
Precious people of God, listen to what Jesus is saying. “The Truth” will make you free. Therefore it is most important to “Know The Truth.”
The Truth will make you free. Listen, Jesus is not talking about truth as in the legalistic truth. Nor is he talking as in reference to a philosophical viewpoint. Because one man’s truth may be a non truth to another. So Jesus is not talking about that truth, but rather He is talking about Himself. He is The Truth! John 14:6 . Jesus tells his disciples that He is “the way, the Truth, and The Life!”
Simply put, Jesus is talking about Himself. “And You Shall Know The Truth - ME, and The Truth I shall make you Free. Yes Lord! To know Jesus is to truly be made Free. Nobody has the wherewithal to even began to access the door of freedom, let alone make you Free. Nobody but Jesus! So if you are Really Going to Be Free, you need to know Jesus! Im not merely talking about knowing His name. No No, Im talking about Knowing Him! The Apostle Paul said, “ there are a lot of things I know, but I want to know Jesus. I want to know Him in His Fulness. I want to know Jesus!!!!!!
{ His own iniquities entrap the wicked man,
And he is caught in the cords of his sin.
The New King James Version. (Pr 5:22). 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.
The New King James Version. (1982). (Ro 6:15–19).
18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”
The New King James Version. (1982). (2 Pe 2:18–22). }
