The Arrest of Jesus
Introduction:
Introduction:
You ever felt like giving up? I mean just felt like maybe, this is not worth it. You do your best and life seems to get more difficult. You want to do God’s Will and there always seems to be some challenge along the way.
Let me assure you today that God’s Will is filled with challenges. Our responsibility is to trust God through the challenges.
Today our text looks at the arrest of Jesus. Jesus has spent all night praying as He faces the cross. He knows it to be the Will of God and trust every challenge in God’s Will.
What does it mean to trust God? It means to believe that God is sovereign in every moment of the journey. It means to believe that God’s plans do not fail.
DT: When the Life of a believer is challenged by opposition the believer must trust the will of God.
Aim: We will trust the Will of God in all circumstances
Propositional Statement: The arrest of Jesus demonstrates three actions believers can display when facing challenges
Because Jesus Trusts The Will of God, He Faces His Betrayer (vv. 47-50)
Because Jesus Trusts The Will of God, He Faces His Betrayer (vv. 47-50)
Jesus is approached by Judas
- Jesus does not run
- Jesus does not hide
- Jesus does not lie
- But Jesus does pray (vv. 36-46)
Illustration: Trust the process . . .
Application: Pray consistently about God’s Will in your life. Do not hide from challenges face them. Perhaps you are not where you should be because you won’t face what God has allowed to challenge you. Face it and trust God. You have to face those who hurt you with love and prayer. You must trust God.
Because Jesus Trusts The Will of God, He Rejects Retaliation (vv. 51-41)

Transition:
Application: You don’t have to fight every battle. Every person who wishes to hurt us should not be on our battle log. Trust the Will of God.
Because Jesus Trusts The Will of God, He silenced His Captors (vv. 55-56)
Because Jesus Trusts The Will of God, He silenced His Captors (vv. 55-56)
These men were zealous about arresting Jesus. They came with their best weapons. They came with a crowd. Their arrest of Jesus could have easily become
They were silenced by His courage
They were silenced by His Faith in God’s plan
- There is no victory for them
- This is the Will of God
Application: Be bold in your Faith. Courageously trust God.
