Adjust Your Sight

Genesis 13:14–18 ESV

14 The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, 15 for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever. 16 I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted. 17 Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.” 18 So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the Lord.

1. You can’t move forward while looking backwards

Separations often hurt but you must move past them

You have to adjust your sight

Stop looking backward, you’re not going that way

Stop looking down, you are above

Stop feeling down, you are a conqueror

Stop acting defeated, you have the victory

2. Start from the place where you are

The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step

Start where you are, don’t stay where you are

Your current position is your starting line

You don’t need a cheering section, you need faith

You don’t need big crowds, you need to trust God

You don’t need to see everything, just beyond where you are

3. Lift up your eyes and look beyond your current place

Look beyond the wilderness

Look beyond the trials

Look beyond the haters

Look past your financial burden

Look past your family struggle

Look past the obstacles

Look past your hurt

Look beyond the giants

Look beyond your illness, sickness, disease

Look beyond the breakup

Look from the place where you are

Remember the promise

4. Use your Faith and look all around

By faith Noah built an ark

By faith Abraham when to a place he did not know

By faith David killed Goliath

By faith Kingdoms have been conquered

By faith Arise will build

By faith you will get your healing

By faith you will get abundant provision

By faith you will overcome

5. Arise, Adjust Your Sight, walk by faith

Seeing is the first step

Believing is the second step

Getting up is the third step

Courage is the fourth step

Moving toward the promise the fifth step

Seeing is the next step

Believing is the next step

Pursuit of the promise is the next step
