Baptism In The Holy Spirit
we saw last week that the baptism is the Holy Spirit coming into us
taking up residence
we are joined to the body of Christ
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.
Jesus is the one doing the baptizing
I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is more powerful than I am, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in the same place. And suddenly a sound like a violent rushing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. And divided tongues like fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.

And once you are baptized/filled you are able to speak in gibberish, perform miacles, cast out demons, heal others

A.W. Tozier sais to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, its a 7 step process. at that time you will recieve your ministry gift
one Pentecostal preacher says you recieve the Baptism of the Holy Spirit by praying and asking for it by faith. at that time, or some time later you will speak in tongues

The Pentecostal doctrine of “the initial, physical evidence” of speaking in tongues is an attempt to encapsulate the thought that at the time of Spirit baptism the believer will speak in tongues. It conveys the idea that speaking in tongues is the initial, empirical accompaniment to Spirit baptism. Nowhere does the Scripture indicate that one may be baptized in the Spirit without speaking in tongues.
the filling is acqired through seeking, prayer,and praise
The baptism in the Spirit must not be a one-time experience.
infilling of the Spirit does not take place when they expect. But during times of special spiritual visitation when others are being filled with the Spirit, conditions are optimum for the seeker.

SOO what is the right answer? who is right? who is wrong?

does it give us instructions on how to get this power?, and what is this power for?, does this power stay with us forever?

How did Peter recieve the power to speak with authority?
But when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you should speak in your own defense or what you should say,
so they spoke with confidence
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were astonished, and recognized them, that they had been with Jesus.

For in truth both Herod and Pontius Pilate, together with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, assembled together in this city against your holy servant Jesus whom you anointed, to do all that your hand and plan had predestined to take place. And now, Lord, concern yourself with their threats and grant your slaves to speak your message with all boldness, as you extend your hand to heal and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

not to be filled with power
God made that decision
but this is the book of Acts this is a trasitional book
lets look at the instructions that God gave the Church on how to run the Church
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Paul prayed for them to be filled with joy and peace
Now I myself also am convinced about you, my brothers, that you yourselves also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to instruct one another.
there are no instructions on how someone is filled with power
you would think that if it was important, Paul, John, James, Jude
all of the epistles to the Church are silent on the matter.
there are no instuctions on how to fill any one else with power
we have the account of D.L. Moody
2 ladies prayed for him, and he desired and constantly prayed for it
God granted Moody great power to preach the gospel
Let me tell you about my Father
For a short time God used him in a mighty way to bring a revival to Sherman Station, Maine
He did not go to a special meeting to recieve special Holy Spirit powers
he did not have another baptism
he did not take apostle Michelle’s advice
God in His Sovreignty caused the Holy Spirit to move in a mighty way
in a short period of time people were coming out of the woodwork to be saved

the Holy Spirit through my father brought reconciliation between 2 split chrches
brought them back together
neither D L Moody or my father layed hands on any one and healed them, spoke in tongues, or did any other type of miracle.

God is in control
Many plans are in the heart of a man, but the purpose of Yahweh will be established.
Who prepares for the crow its prey, when its young ones cry to God for help, and they wander around for lack of food?
we may pray for power, gift, miracle,
but ultimately it is God who grants according to His will
Are we empty of sin and selfishness, in order for the Heavenly Father to fill us
I believe the Holy Spirit fills someone to do powerful things
or He may just use us to fulfill our Holy Spirit given gifts for the edification of the Church
