God taught Israel the sacrificial system for generations. The idea of the unblemished, uninjured, first-from-the-womb lamb, whose blood would defer God’s judgment for another day was ingrained in their society. However, the reason sacrifices were needed so often may have been forgotten by much of the people by the time Jesus entered the scene. Otherwise, they may have recognized the lamb God provided for us, just as He provided a ram for Abraham’s son. So that no further sacrifice was needed for those who believed in Jesus, The Christ.
