Introduction

One of the biggest obstacles to knowing Jesus is arrogance. At least that's what I call it. And arrogance is growing throughout our nation. It's promoted in our schools, our media, entertainment, and the scientific community. And the arrogance I'm talking about is the arrogance that the Jews showed toward Jesus in His day. They thought Jesus to be an ignorant, untaught, foolish sinner who simply did not know any better.
The arrogance of our day cannot tolerate the teachings and works of Jesus or those who follow Him any better than the Jews did in His day. They believe the Bible to be antiquated and irrelevant - even "fact-checked" into obscurity and made illegal in light of today's moral decline.
Yet, everyone here, everyone watching, needs to understand that this is not so. Jesus came to redeem mankind, not to destroy. Jesus came to heal, not to kill. Jesus came to teach, not deceive. And we all need to do as He tells us: "Judge with righteous judgment" not "according to appearance." In so doing, we can be redeemed, healed, and taught the truth rather than be destroyed and killed by our unrighteousness, and deceived by lies. Jesus really IS salvation to all who believe and trust in Him!
Today, I want to help us all see that Jesus and His teachings are trustworthy while all else is not.

Truth Comes from God, Not Higher Education

- Jesus' Claim to be From God
- Jesus Test of Authority
- Jesus Proof of Divinity

Righteousness Comes From God, Not Religious Rituals (v. 20-24)

- Rituals bring pain and suffering (physical and spiritual
- Jesus brings relief of pain and suffering (spiritual always, physical sometimes)

Conclusion

Trusting Jesus as He is, and not as we want Him to be is the way to salvation.
Beware the influence of the arrogant and external perspectives.
These are those who cannot comprehend the spiritual truth. Often enough, they cannot comprehend the truth.
