I. New Generation / New Connection v9a -9b A “call” is not what you do, a “call” is who you are.

v9(a) “But you” – “YOU” 25x in 14 verses (vs 2) called newborn’s (v5) called living stones …a holy priesthood v9(b) “are a chosen generation”

Saved by a Living Hope 1 Peter 1:3 …who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…Surrendered to a Living Stone: 2:4 Coming to Him as to a living stone…Satisfied and Living Life: 2:6 “…no means be put to shame” (past / dead; present / alive, fresh and vibrant)

Peter answers 3 questions & calms their hearts. v5(b) Where is the Temple? v5(c) Where are the Priest? v5(d) Where’s the Sacrifice? Get prepared to be exposed, disturbed, rubbed the wrong way.

II. New Nation / New Race v9(c) -10

This powerful verse must be understood. God is not only finished with the old order of things having to do with the temple worship, Other than being family, He is finished with the old Israel that rejected Him.

New Nation (above the nations!) v9(c) “holy nation”

Have a Foundation: Cornerstone of our lives. Have a King: We have submitted to Him as His private property. Have a Constitution: Sharper than any double-edge sword. Have a Currency: The King supplies all our needs according to His riches. Have a System of Care: The King cares for us, His possessions; He guards, protects what belongs to Him. Have a Military: No one can steal His property or ultimately harm it.

New Race v9(d) “his own special people” (unity in warmeth) 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God

We are the people of God. We are peculiar —a people for a special reservation / to have worked hard for (over and above) is how much He paid for us and loves us. He worked by His own blood.” Here, it means “a redeeming people to be His very own possession. We mess up / He loves us. We are treasured, devoted. He values us.

WE have a Blood Type: TYPE F (FORGIVEN) Our blood relation is through the new birth ( Isaiah 1:23 ). We are a royal priesthood, a holy nation. A people for God's own possession.

v You best not mess with us. Even when it looks as we are losing, we are winning.

III. New Mission / New Message v9(d-f)

New Mission! v9(e) “proclaim His praises” New Message! v9(f) “called out of darkness into HIS marvelous light”
