We’re always discipled by something

Don’t look to powerful or influential people to figure out how to live.

The Pharisees were the influencers of the day. Peopl listened to them.
And in this passage we see that they were totally corrupt.
Who do you look to for influence? Are they bringing you closer to Jesus, or pushing you further away?
This is one of the ways that we pull our eyes off of Jesus in this passage, here is another way.

Don’t lose sight of God by getting distracted by outside influences.

The disciples were in a boat with the dud who fed 4,000+ men with a sack lunch RIGHT BEFORE
WHY WERE THEY WORRIED ABOUT FOOD!
They got caught up in their problems, and made them (in their minds)
God will take care of your problems
Matt 6:25-34 Phil 4:6-7
These make it clear that God can take care of you, so don’t get bogged down by the stuff that He’s got for you.
Narrow your focus on God’s message on the cross, that He loves you and was willing to live as a human, die, and beat death for you; and no one else (celebrity, influencer, etc) would ever do that for you.
